TTCing is such a mental game...
So, hopefully this is my month and I won't need to make the call to the Dr. But if it isn't and I do, what does that mean? I am 38 and have been trying for 6 months. Does the next step mean we just need a little help or would I be in the infertile category? like most of you, I really didn't think it would come to this. Wish me luck for this month!

I hope and pray that this is your month. But if its not I would talk to your dr. Maybe make an appt with an RE just to talk and see what is going on. Dont count yourself out just because of your age

My Dr. told me after 6 monthes of trying on my own, that I should come in. Hopefully you will not need the advice but just in case, My dr had said six months =)

I hate to say this but I was 37 when we started. My OBY gave me 6mths too and I could not talk DH into starting with an RE at that point so 1 1/2 years went by...needless to say, I am now 41. Time goes quickly. It is not the most horrible thing to go to the RE, there could something that is easily fixable and you can get where you need to be that much faster.
On the other hand, I hope this is your month and you don't have to make that phone call.

Thanks ladies! I had a mini breakdownlast month and did make an appt with an RE, only to cancel because I think I was putting the cart before the horse. I called my gyn and they told me if nothing this month, to come in to see him and they would do the CD3 and SA testing. I think the RE said they would start there too. I would feel more comfortable going with the DR. I know for those tests and then go forward from that point. UGH!

I'm also 38 and went to my regular OB/Gyn to get everything checked out after trying for 4-5 months. I already have 1 DD and had some complications at the end of my c-section so I wanted to make sure everything was ok. He was able to do lots of my tests and said he'll refer me to a RE if I need one. So far I'm waiting on some tests. I would try your regular dr. first. JMO. Good luck!
