What a way to start a cycle...
As I have previously mentioned I am with East Coast Fertility - I really like my dr and she has been very responsive (via email) to any questions I may have going into this cycle.
Went for my info session last week and nurse said I would get scripts on CD3 for the clomid and ovidrel. OK, fine - dr told me differently but whatever...
Today is CD2 so I called to scheduled bloodwork for tomorrow and I was told that they NEVER cleared the meds with my insurance. The woman in billing claims it is not their responsibility - is this accurate? I thought it would be their responsibility but maybe I am wrong - I verified fertility coverage but not specific meds. These meds have been listed on my chart for a good 2 months (I went to see the dr in Feb but we are not starting until now). FINE FINE. I call Aetna and they tell me that the meds have to be done through MAIL ORDER or i will have a $50 copay per script. GREAT! So I call back ECF and speak to a diff nurse who said they can get the script to Aetna speciality pharmacy ASAP and it will okay and I will have it in time for tomorrow - phew - wait, not yet...
5 phone calls later and Aetna STILL HASN'T received the faxed script from ECF. I just FLIPPED the heck out on the poor receptionist who is personally going to figure out what is going on. Last pick-up for tomorrow's delivery is at like 4pm - so i wait patiently...trying to be calm. Worst case scenario I will get them to give me the script tomorrow and will have to pay the $ - I don't want to lose a cycle over this right now...
What a way to start a cycle - oy!

So glad it worked out! I was going to tell you I have Aetna too and for the first perscription of meds you can fill them at a specialty pharmacy near you (I know there is a list of pharmacies that distribute them) but for all refills/further prescriptions you have to use Aetna specialty pharmacy. Best of luck!
