I decided to take some time off
I'm getting burnt out and I feel the beginning of adrenal burnout, which scares the crap out of me. I went thru that years ago, and it made my gain 30 lbs even though I worked out and ate very little.
I am taking this week and next off from working out. I am juice fasting next week to detox - green drinks - so I can't work out anyway, and then I'm changing up my routine a little the following week. It started to get to the point where I was pushing myself to workout, feeling sleepy and groggy all day, hated my workouts the whole time - which is so unlike me, and am gaining weight all of a sudden. It is the worst feeling in the world.

What is adrenal burnout?
Also I know you are a vegetarian...are you getting enough protein from the things you eat? Are you eating too many carbs? That always makes me feel groggy and cloudy.

I hope you feel better!!!!
It is possible, and common, for people to work out TOO hard! So, don't feel badly about taking a break. Your body rebuilds itself in the resting stage...so you are doing the best thing you can do for yourself by resting. I have a week off scheduled in a few weeks too. I'm not looking forward to it, but Iknow it's what my body needs.
You'll be right back on track in a few weeks I just know it

What is adrenal burnout?
Also I know you are a vegetarian...are you getting enough protein from the things you eat? Are you eating too many carbs? That always makes me feel groggy and cloudy. I actually don't really eat too many carbs - I hardly eat pasta - I normally eat vegetables, tofu, and quinoa which is a high protein grain. A bagel on the weekends only. I will have some raw nuts during the day. I do tend to eat some processed foods - veggie burgers, soy turkey, things like that - but it's not worse than regular turkey and burgers.... Normally this works for me, so when I start to feel this way, I know something is wrong. What normally is a clue is when I start to gain weight for no reason. I gained 5 lbs doing nothing different at all. It's different than when weight fluctuates - it's a very bloated, puffy weight - in my face, arms, everywhere. And my hair starts to look dead.
Adrenal burnout is when you are under so much stress constantly, that your adrenal gland keeps going by pumping out adrenaline. Eventually it just gets depleted and your body falls apart. I did this to myself 5-6 years ago with an extremely unhealthy lifestyle - starving myself, teaching aerobic classes everyday, up to 5 on some days, and working from morning to night... THEN going out and partying and not sleeping. In a matter of months I went from a trim, healthy looking girl to a MESS!!! I gained 30 lbs because I ignored my body. I would nod off in the car while driving the way people do when they are driving home really late. I even joined WW and other diet places, and still gained weight. It baffled them, and me.
I started getting medical problems - when I had abnormal paps, my OBGYN told me what she thought was going on with me... It scared the crap out of me!!!!
I stopped working out for a year, and started eating normally again - and it took 2 years to get my body back!
I feel it happening again - I don't have the same schedule, but I'm 35 now! I wake up early with Cailen. I go all day with work - living on coffee and forgetting to eat most of the day. When I realize I am starving and I still have to work out later that night, I try and find something that will work - a banana, nuts, etc - and it's still not enough. I rush from work to pick up Cailen, come home, give him dinner - and usually get to the gym by 7-7:30. Then I try and run and am following that training schedule. I don't come home until late, then I need to eat dinner. Then I'm up even later digesting, and I finally pass out and wake up the next day to do it again.
I can't change my schedule, but I need a week to regroup and detox. The week after I fast, I am going to make sure I eat breakfast every morning again and be sure to pack food for the day so I am eating. I am going to still run, but throw in a yoga day and a rest day, plus a fun workout day to vary it up.
sorry so long - but if this sounds familiar to other women, and it can help someone, I think it's worth the read!!!!
