I cannot even imagine ever registering for stuff!

Another baby shower on Saturday. Of course went to their wedding last year the day after my 2nd IVF transfer. OK, whatever...yadda yadda....I'm not complaining. They are much younger and must have gotten pg on the first shot out the door. I'm happy they didn't struggle (really I am).

But, I am looking at the registry (OK, so its on Saturday and today is Thursday night, guess i didn't run out to buy a gift). And they only registered at BuyBuyBaby and i live out east so there is no chance of me going there. So, I am comparing the list to what I can buy at Target.

And I'm thinking that I cannot even imagine having this for myself. I'm not sad, it just feels so "disconnected" kinda thing.

Will it ever happen?

Regarding the registry I don't know how you are actually logging onto that website and looking at it. I would buy a Target giftcard and call it a day Chat Icon

Also I always imagine how if I were to ever be so lucky to get pregnant, I feel like I would not want a shower nor would I bring anything into my home until the baby is home. Sad but true. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon The potential joy is already gone.

I agree with the giftcard idea. Get a Target giftcard or a Visa giftcard and call it a day. Maybe pick up a small item so they have something to open along with the card. They will need so many things (diapers alone) and the giftcard will come in handy.

For a long time, I said that I wouldn't want a baby shower until after the baby comes. I said I wouldn't even consider decorating a room until the eighth month. I, like many of us, have been through a loss and am now a little superstitious I guess. I have said many times that I won't fully believe it until the minute they place that long-awaited child in my arms.

Then, miraculously, you get pregnant. When inside you doubted it would ever happen. And little by little, your walls start coming down. You start making plans. A little slower than the average girl, but you start allowing yourself to think past infertility. Granted, my walls at times resemble the Great Wall, but there are holes in the wall with little pieces of light poking through.

I hope you get your miracle soon. Good luck at the shower. I hate showers.

I have never really like baby showers...even before this..never liked them.

I look around my house and I can't imagine having baby stuff around.

To answer your questions, yes I think it will happen! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon And I think you're disconnected b/c it's easier than being connected and dealing w/ the pain from that connection. Chat Icon
I'm the opposite (as you know firsthand)- I love looking at baby stuff... and I know I'm in the minority here, and that's ok--- but it just gives me hope. I still have my days I don't want to see it, but for the most part, it doesn't bring me down. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I cannot even imagine ever registering for stuff!

I understand. Everytime I start to dream....how to tell DH, family, playing with baby, daycare arrangements, willingness to give up my computer room for baby, nurse or someone tells me I am not pregnant or my chances are low.

I try to live day by day, but the dream comes back....yesterday at Costco, I saw 6 sets of twins and babies in every other cart...people probably thought I was weird staring at all the lovely kiddies. I know we all just want one....it's got to happen, right?

Re: I cannot even imagine ever registering for stuff!

i can't imagine registering but I can imagine borrowing everything from my cousin who had success at age 41.

That is why I'm hopeful.

Get her a Target gift card. I'm sure it will be appreciated.

Congratulations to her. And...soon for you.Chat Icon
