I have been where you were. Our Dr said 3-5 iuis till IVF. We ended up doing 13 IUIs for differnt reasons but we had no choice but to move to IVF and our insurance covered none of it.

We did apply for the grant and got a nice chunk and basically borrowed and maxed out our savings to pay for the rest the grant didnt cover.

The grant gives money to couples making up to 200K a yr...so I'm sure if are having trouble affording it, you must be under those guidlines? ( sorry if that was presumptious of me to say).

I have a similar story-we depleted an IRA and borrowed a small amount of money from family. I will say if you are going to do that to give yourself a few months-go organic, acupuncture, read the infertility cure by Randine Lewis and pre your body so you have the best chaces possible. We did that and were successful on our 1st IVF with an fsh of 14.9!

Thank you, both. You make me see the light at the end of what I think is a verrrrry looooooooooooong tunnel for me.

I did apply for the grant two years ago and got a few $$, but didn't need it as I got my bfp on my last iui. I'm going to do it again to see what happens this time.

where there's a will theres a way. We had to borrow from a 401K....A stupid thing to do in most peoples eyes but the outcome was WELL worth it to me. It was VERY hard and we are still paying it all back....but you do what you have to ya know?

I'm actually in the process of gathering addresses of our legislators including our President and I plan on sending them a letter re insurance for infertility and also about maternity leave. I'm appalled every time I read or hear stories of people that give up so much to have a child it makes me sick to my stomach. And our government does nothing to help us!! Chat Icon

Unfortunatly I feel they never will. Right now there is NOTHING in it for them. Thats the way we live. With the economy this way as well, no changes to mandates etc will be made any time soon Chat Icon
