How to lose 10 pounds?
I want to lose 10 pounds before the bikini weather comes into season!
I am not a junk food eater, but will have snacks once in a while. I do not excersise a lot, but am a teacher and am always running around.
I eat 100 cal. packs or Activia yogurt for snack at work.
I cook with EVOO and use margarine ONCE in a blue. I use fat-free milk at home and buy reduced fat or fat free things like sour cream and ricotta.
What else can I do??? TIA

Figure out how many calories you eat a day and then reduce them.
I read that for weight loss you should consume between 1200-1500 calories a day.
I keep a food journal and it really helps.
Also you have to burn calories by working out. Buy yourself a good workout dvd and do it everyday.
Those 2 factors should help you see results, but only if you stick with it. You cant do it for a week and stop, it must be continuous.

If you want to break it down simple: 10 pounds is 35000 calories. Divide that by 90 days = ~388 calories to brun a day. That's a 3.5 mile walk or 3 mile run a day.
of course, when you start working out you muscles will burn more calories, but it's a basic guide

While EVOO is more heart-healthy than other oils, it's still VERY calorie-dense. Try cooking with less than you normally use and you could trim ALOT of calories from your diet each week.

Increase your fiber and protein, and decrease complex carbs.
The 100 calorie packs are great, but I find that 2 ounces of lean protein fills me up way more.

ITA. Decreasing complex carbs is very important. Not easy for a carb-aholic like myself

Make sure you are getting enough fat in your diet. Honestly, I started to drop weight when I added more fat....I went to a nutritionist, and turns out, I was not taking enough fat for my metabolism to run correctly.
I don't eat anything fat free. I drink whole milk, I eat regular butter, olive oil, etc.

eat 6 small meals a day (it speeds up your metabolism), drink lots of water, never skip meals especially breakfast, cardio!!!

This is important. With the fat-free things, you are potentially adding more sugar in its place. Don't fall into the trap of fat-free being better.
Make your portions small and exercise.

ditch the 100 calorie packs and snack on something else instead that has more nutritional value such as fruit, veggies, or a weight watchers string cheese.
journal every single thing that you eat. you'd be surprised after a week, and will be able to learn where you can cut more. also, journaling makes you think twice before eating!
drink lots of water and start working out! even if it's just yoga/pilates dvds at home, or walking around the neighborhood.
