Odd PIO Question
OK...this is really going to sound odd. My last IVF cycle I started with the PIO shots instead of the suppositories. We kind of flew by the seat of our pants and had to rely on Youtube videos to help us out with the shot. While I will say that the shots didnt kill..they werent pain free either. Tonight was my second shot and I have to tell you, I dont feel anything. I felt a very slight prick but after that nothing. I almost feel like DH is doing it wrong (or not doing anything at all!). I dont ice or anything. The only thing I do is hold the PIO bottle in my hand for about 5 minutes to warm it up. Honestly, these last two shots have been a million times more pleasant than the SubQ stim drugs I was sticking in my belly. The day of my ER the nurse drew the cute little circles on my butt but is it possible that its not going where its supposed to? Or is my butt so darn big that I cant feel a thing? Anyone else not experience any discomfort?

I always ice but I know when DH puts it in a 'good' spot b/c I don't feel a thing- just a slight poke of it going in and then NOTHING... i can't even tell when it's done sometimes!  Yeah for your DH!

Me too! But I've been icing for 10 minutes first. I don't feel them after either. I even asked him if he was doing it right and this morning he said, ok, well now I will shoot in another direction where you didn't ice!

Don't get alarmed. When I was doing the PIO, I barely felt DH doing it. I would feel the prick of the needle going in only on some days. I never iced either & only warmed the PIO beforehand.

I never really had an issue with feeling the injection and the only thing I ever did was warm the PIO in hot water before drawing it into the syringe. I think the warm PIO is the most important thing...

This is the 1st cycle I've used the PIO and I've been fine so far. I don't really feel anything but it is a little sore the next day. I always worry that I'm not doing it in the right spot. I have to do them myself since DH is not good with needles.

Exact same here...A matter of fact out of the 12 weeks I took them, I can count on 1 hand how many times I actually felt it ( I mean where there was an "OUCH" !)...And I think it was more because my butt was getting sore in some spots just from repetition....
