Bermuda

Ok so we decided on Bermuda for our anniversary in July. We are up in the air if we should do a cruise or just fly there. Has anyone been and if so on a cruise or did you stay there. What would you recommend. Thanks

Re: Bermuda

I'd just stay there. It's such a beautiful island with so many gorgeous hotels and cute restaurants.

Re: Bermuda

I think the cruise is better. I did a cruise many, many years ago with friends after HS and had an amazing time. I liked going to Bermuda on a cruise over going to separate islands on a cruise. I did that a couple of years ago and it's exhausting to get up early, run around and see and do as much as possible then get back on the boat in time to get ready to leave again and get ready for dinner. If you do Bermuda they stay docked there for a few days so you can come and go as you please. Plus, there's no nightlife in Bermuda so you can stay on the island all day then come back and have some drinks w/ DH, go to the casino, see a show if they have one, etc.

Re: Bermuda

we cruised there from nyc and loved the convenience....i can't say if staying vs. cruising would be better since we only cruised....my bf stayed there and loved it....what i liked about our particular cruise was that it went to 3 ports around bermuda....so we got to see the main parts of it....it did take a full day and a half to travel down there though...but it was relaxing....if u have any specific questions, let me know!

Re: Bermuda

i've only cruised to bermuda so i can't compare the two but i can give a positive and negative about it - -
negative - we left from NJ and the weather was iffy and it was a very rocky ride down. I found cruising down in the atlantic to be very rough (lots of people have had better experiences so i guess the iffy weather made a huge difference).
positive - once we got to bermuda we only hit two ports so we were at each port for more than 1 night which made it like being in a hotel. you could go out, back to ship and out again. that was really nice and convenient.

either way bermuda is really nice and i don't think you can go wrong.

Re: Bermuda

We have only cruised to Bermuda & honestly if I went again, that is how i would do it. It was nice to know that I could go back to the ship & all. Plus when we went, we stopped at 3 ports there, so it was a nice way to see the entire island without having to do a lot of the transportation yourself.

Re: Bermuda

Thanks everyone! Can you tell me which cruise line you went on. It would be great to leave out of NY or NJ. Please let me know I want to book this within the next month or so. Thanks again

Re: Bermuda

I don't think that the cruise ships to Bermuda cruise to all 3 ports anymore. One of the ports is thru a very, very small inlet and the ships are now too large to fit thru the inlet. I *think* it was the hamilton port.

I know Celebrity was the last one to have a ship to go there - and now since the ship was so old they've sold it.

I cruised on the Celebrity Zenith in 2005 and it was just amazing

We went on the Zenith to Bermuda twice.. we loved it too. I don't mind the small ships. They sold the Zenith to a small 'luxury' cruise line.

I've been looking at Bermuda cruise for the inlaws, and I'm quite disappointed that Celebrity doesn't go there anymore (unless you want to couple it with a trip to the carribean...) and all the other lines just goto the one port that is the farthest away from everything (the dockyard, I think..)

ITA its very disappointing that celebrity doesnt cruise out of bayonne anymore

and the only port the other ships go to is kings wharf which is on the north side of the island no where near hamilton or st. george

I am actually cruising the new celebrity solstice on march 15th out of Ft. lauderdale and i can't wait!

Enjoy. I've been seeing some cheapie deals for Celebrity Carribean so I've been dying to go. I don't think we did Ft Lauderdale, but we did the western carribean out of Miami instead.

Have a good time!
