Accupuncture?

Ok so I keep hearing how this helps people...I'm a little wary of more needles being put into me but I am still thinking about it. Did anyone do this and find that it helps? Any recommendations of someone in NYC if it did help? Thanks. Also, do you start before treatment or during treatment? sorry for all the questions!!!

Re: Accupuncture?

I went to the Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness in Manhattan. I know a lot of people really like acupuncture, but I felt like it wasn't for me. The place I went to and the doctor were both really nice, but I had a hard time laying still and relaxing! I kind of feel like I should have given it more of a chance.

But, I would definitely try it out and see if you like it!

Re: Accupuncture?

I had been twice a couple months ago but stopped going b/c of price. This was before I saw an RE for the first time, and we found out the problem was DH. Now that I found a guy that's covered by insurance I started up again this week, along with DH. Here's what I found online:

In general, studies seem to indicate that doing acupuncture about 30 minutes before and after in vitro fertilization can increase the chance that the embryo will be implanted successfully and reduce the chance of miscarriage.

There are also indications that the effectiveness of the IVF drugs and procedure may improve if acupuncture is done about once a week in the month or two leading up to the start of IVF and then continued regularly — once or twice a week — during the whole cycle.

HTH!!!

Also, here's what is said about acupuncture and MIF

Fewer studies on male infertility have been conducted, although evidence suggests that acupuncture can have an effect on sperm production and quality, without causing any changes in behavior or sexual desire. A recent trial published in Fertility and Sterility has shown just how effective acupuncture can be in the treatment of this condition, leading to significant increases in the number of normal sperm and equally significant reductions in structural defects.

I went also, to James Shinol in Ronkonkoma, but I had 2 failed IVF cycles (No response to the meds) and due to that and cost , I gave it up.

I also went to Andrea/Liselle and I got PG on my 1st round of IVF. I also used meditation CD's for IVF and use dthat time to relax and think positive thoughts. I think it did work since my fsh was 14.9 and we got 8 eggs with 6 fertilizing. I have healthy twin boys

I go to James also, he also has an office in Huntington as well. I got pg 2x, m/c but both times for different reasons.

I love him, he's great, I never feel more relaxed then when I leave James. check with your insurance, they may give a discount for acupunture, mine does.
