Accupuncture

Does anyone do it? Does it work? I have serious sinus issues and constant sinus headaches and NOTHING works, so I'm thinking of going to an accupuncturist.

My insurance will cover it if it's done by an MD, and only if it's for chronic pain. Would you classify sinus headaches as chronic pain??

Re: Accupuncture

I do it for infertillity. It haasn't wprked yet, but I'm still working out some health issues.

My mom did it many, many years ago for painful AF, she would get very sick, and it was the only thing that helped her.

Re: Accupuncture

I have never done it, but I have a friend who is an acupuncturist, and he tells me stories about people who have been cured of their ailments. I used to get lots of sinus headaches too, and he told me acupuncture would definitely help, but they are not as bad as they used to be so I haven't gone.
Its definitely worth a try if your ins. will cover it!

Is your friend an MD? My insurance only covers it it's done by an MD or someone practicing under an MD.

He's not an MD, but here's his website if you want to call. I am not sure if he practices under an MD either.

My sister used to go to school for acupuncture/acupressure before she gave it up for the SAHM role. She believes in it wholeheartedly. She said it takes 6+ times to really take effect since you are retraining your body, dealing with energy, etc. If you can't get it covered, her school was right outside Winthrop Hospital in Mineola. I know they have interns that work & are significantly less money ($25 first visit, $15 each visit thereafter). They're supervised by a doctor and trained in clean needle technique, etc. My SIL is going to go for fertility issues starting this week. ::crossing fingers:::

One woman was going there for a "face lift"Chat Icon . My sis said it was amazing to see the difference.

Anyway, good luck. If you need me to track down the info on the place, FM me.

I had accupuncture and "cupping" done for a bad soft-tissue injury after a car accident. I had gone to a physical therapist and chiropractor and it was the only think that worked for me.

I did it and still go.....I went for infertility, and I was spotting, so she worked on some areas and my spotting has stopped.
It is such a great feeling. My insurance does not cover it either.

Re: Accupuncture

I have a lot of pain from car accidents and i've tried everything and accupuncture is really the only reatment that has helped the pain. Right after the car accident I suffered with a terribe headache for about 8 weeks. I finally went and had a whole treatment done for the headache and it was gone.

I am a HUGE AP advocate, and my plan does NOT cover it, so I pay for it in cash and I think it's well worth it.

ETA: I've also used it for sinus pain and it worked wonders
