Dr Kofinas

Sorry for the repost...I do not know how to repost a topic...


After having blood work done, my ob wants to send me to him b/c of some issues. Does anyone go to him? Does anyone know if he take insurance??? I couldn't tell from his website and I wan't sure if REs even took insurance or if this is something I should not worry about. Thanks!

I see him and he takes my insurance.. BCBS Screen actors guild HMO.. He is known to be one of the top in his field.. I would call the office and ask.. if you end up with him you will be in the best hands ever.. Good luck

My chiropractor's Father works for him in the hospital. He just recommended him to me. He said he's one of the best in the world. They built the wing in the hospital just for him.


I called to make an appt., and they take most insurance plans- I have GHI. I cancelled though...

If I had to go to him, I'd go in a heartbeat and would feel very comfortable.

I looked into seeing him when I had a minor complication early in my pregnancy but he did not take my insurance and I would have to meet a high deductible for out of network coverage. He also does not deliver so you have to see him and a regular OB during your pregnancy. I went with Dr. Klein and Dr. Nimaroff instead in Great Neck.

ETA: Dr. Kofinas is not a RE. He is a maternal and fetal medicine specialist who handles high risk pregnancies.

I don't know anything about him but if you look at the bottom of this page other posts that ppl have made asking about him are there- you should be able to get some info from those as well. HTH!

I am going to his practice now, i dont actually see him though,
i have ghi and they take it,
and i heard about him through reading the New York Magazine top doctors issue

ARRGGHHHH the receptionist told me they DONT accept ghi (i have ghi). she said its the only insurance they dont work with !! I called after i saw this post bc i searched him and hes got outstanding results.

Thanks everyone... but I called and they said they absolutely don't take GHI??? They said they are in the middle of some litigations with them and are not accepting the insurance??? I am so confused. I am so upset b/c after hearing so many good things about him, I still can't fathom coughing up the $600 for the first visit... I have no idea how much subsequent visits would be and I am scared to find out!

Please dont be upset.. There are others out there that are excellent.. And there are people on here that will confirm this.. I heard the same things about Dr Klien and if Kofinas didnt take my insurance I would have gone there.. He is in Great Neck..

I have Aetna (PPO, no referalls) and when I called they said he takes VERY LIMITED insurance and Aetna isn't one of them...

This is so odd that other people with GHI go to him but they are saying he won't take yours... Are there diff levels of GHI maybe?

THis may be a possiblity because there are different forms of GHI
also perhaps he just recently stop accepting it and honors it for patients he already sees, i have seen that happen before

I have GHI CBP i know there is a PPO
also i go in Brooklyn, and i have never actually seen him i see one of his associates


I have ghi cbp as well and was told they do not accept any ghi anymore at all. I guess they are keeping the ghi patients they have but wont accept anymore?
