Sperm analysis?
So my CD3 blood work came back normal and the DR did an internal ultra sound and said everything looks good so he wants DH to have a SA. They gave me a referral for quest diagnostics. Do I just walk in show them my referral and pick up a cup or do I need an appt? Also does the specimen have to be delivered to the lab within a certain time frame? The receptionist at the dr's office said she had no idea how this worked. TIA

Re: Sperm analysis?
My dr's office gave me a sterile collection cup and a prescription. I then had to call the lab and they told me it had to go to a specific location and I had to make an appt, this particular lab does this M-F 8:30am-10am so annoying b/c DH has to work! We were told to have it there within an hour. HTH and good luck!

Re: Sperm analysis?
you should call them. every lab has its rules. the lab we went to (live in PA) has a kit with some forms and a sterile cup.
they only took the specimens M-F before 10 am...and it has to be brought in within a half hour after its put into the cup.
Most labs have similar requirements. We did 2 SA tests b/c the first one was messed up. The 2nd lab was pretty much the same deal except he needed an appt to drop it off. So quest may require him to have a drop off appointment.
Good luck!

Re: Sperm analysis?
DH needs to use that refferral to make an appointment to go to the lab, just like a dr.s appointment, and go to give his sample. Most likely, he will actually produce the sample in the lab, right there.
I have heard of doing it at home and transporting it, but there are so many stipulations (must be there in a half an hour, kept warm, etc. to stay "fresh"), he' likely better off just doing it in the lab, as "unsexy" as it may be.

Re: Sperm analysis?
I'd just call and get the info.
My DH did his through our PCP. They gave him the cup and instructions and he was able to produce the sample at home and had to bring it to the lab within 30 minutes.
