Pregnant Freak Show
Anyone else tired of feeling like a freak show?
I guess it boils down to the fact that I never liked being the center of attention, but every time I walk into our coffee room (that we share with two other departments), I get 32,678 comments from people I don't even know!  I am so tired of the "how are you feeling / what are you having / when are you due / you look (insert small-big) today / when I had my (insert son-daughter) they told me ...... / are you ready / is this your first"
I swear I go out of my way to NOT make eye contact with anyone, and they still get me.
Just let me get my decaf and get out of there!!!

I must be carrying big for 21 weeks because I get the "you're gigantic", or "are you due soon" or "there IS only one in there" comments daily!! It probably doesn't help that I wear form fitted clothes and not big baggy sweaters but still - WHO SAYS THIS TO PREGNANT WOMAN who are already self conscious as it is?
Good thing DH tells me he loves my belly because I think I would just cry all day.

Isn't it so annoying?? I'm at 36 wks and I'm STILL getting, "so, is he kicking???". YES, FOR THE 8 MILLIONTH TIME, HE'S KICKING!!!" 
And it's not like these people don't know the answer, it's the same co-workers that ask the same questions week after week after week. I know they're just being polite, but I feel like telling them, don't worry, you don't HAVE to inquire about how I'm feeling, I will not get offended.
This one guys says to me EVERY. FREAKIN. DAY. : "You're still here?!?!?" Obviously, funny guy.

i remember feeling this way when i was pregnant with my first. But after you have the baby, its weird how all of the sudden- there is 0 attention and no one cares again. I appreciated it more the second time around, and learned to just laugh at the comments that werent necessary.

I don't like being the center of attention AT ALL - so I will gladly welcome the day the baby is born and I fade into the background and people barely say "hello" to me anymore
I know how you feel ........and in MY office it's hilarious b/c a lot of people are just finding out I'm PG by seeing me for the 1st time in months (I work for a HUGE company so it's not uncommon) and they (especially the men) just kind of gawk at me

Random people come up to you, ask shiiit that is none of their business, say the gender wrong, try and touch the baby - yep - hands, face, whatever they can grab. They even ask about your delivery! They all have opinions on size/weight/etc too. You almost have to be an offensive lineman for your kid

I know - one of my friends just told me that it takes her an extra 20 minutes just to get through the supermarket because of all the people stopping to comment / touch / grab at the baby...

People are so friggin stupid.
Seriously I get the same crap. I tell them thanks Doc for the free checkup (when they ask me stupid med questions), and move on. I am so unfriendly.
I had a co-worker tell me yesterday (yes the infamous one) that she thinks that the baby is making me cranky and short-tempered. Funny thing is, I am calmer when I am PG b/c I don't want to stress the baby. Wait until she sees the b&^% on wheels that I will be when I come back from Mat leave

Ok I must disagree with many of the previous posters...
I think it is absolutely WONDERFUL that people (even strangers) ask how I'm feeling, what I am having etc. It reminds me that we live in a caring society!
In addition, I think its beautiful that my pregnancy will remind many of how they felt when they were pregnant. I am glad I can bring them back to that moment in time!

I can handle the nice questions, the genuine interest, etc. I have to say that A LOT of what I hear is more tongue-in-cheek or snotty from people, and not from a good place. just my own experience. And when I was PG with DS#1, it was very different...I worked with some great people who were caring and interested, unlike the ones I work with now that are catty and gossip-wh0res.

It's just another part of pregnancy!
I just want to when people ask me if I feel the baby moving.
DOH... Yes, of course I do! The baby is a baby and moves, 6lbs of baby cramed into this tiny space.. of course I feel it when the baby moves.
I also hate the sympathetic looks I get. There's nothing to be sympathetic for... I'm pregnant, not sick. I love being pregnant!

You girls are making me never want to leave the house!  I really do not go out much and I'm not as far along as most of you (17 weeks) so I have not gotten too much attention...
but the one thing that gets me, and no offense because I know the majority of posters here have/will find out the gender, but 1. when people asked what I was having when I was like 10 weeks and not even showing 2. How floored they are when I tell them we are not finding out. Just because technology allows us to doesn't mean we have to.

I know it can be overwhelming for alot with the questions.. b/c were uncomfortable, m/s, hormonal.. and othe reasons.. but once you have baby.. you miss the attention.. Im hate attention but I still missed it after baby was born..

I get alot of "oh good, its better not to know.. blah blah". I found out with baby #1, and not with baby #2.. its my decision.. neither one is better than the other.. I hate when people can be soo rude.
