My doctor told me that in the first trimester you should only gain between 2 and 4 pounds. Every book I've read has said the same.
Same here.
I'm almost 14 weeks and I've gained 3lbs.

Ugh - I would LOVE that - that means I would only end up weighing 124!
Instead, I am one of those HUGE gainers - fortunately I lose it all.
Oh I am up 5lbs at the end of the 1st tri.

I'm 11 wks now, and i'm down 13lbs from my 1st Drs appointment at 5wks.
i have bad morning sickness and crazy food aversions to everything except green veggies and spicy things.

Oooh seriously 8 lbs is average gain by 12 weeks?! I LOVE that! Now I don't feel so bad.
That's pretty much what I gained, but I have a feeling it might have been closer to 10 lbs cuz I don't think they were counting what I gained before my 8 week appt.

Oh crap, now I feel worse.  They told me I was fine with 8 lbs up by 16 weeks....oh well, whatever, ain't gonna stress about it! I hope the 'unnecessary' weight gain will level off and the rest will be baby!

i had only gained 1 pound by 10 weeks too and my midwife seemed just fine with it.
