Okay...we booked our Disney restaurants...
What do you Disney regulars think? Some places we liked were just too expensive along with everything else we're spending and some places we wanted (mainly Le Cellier in Epcot, were booked solid during the time we're there)...but here's what we came up with:
Cinderella's Castle for our anniversary... OK, expensive, but I am excited about it!!!! I am such a kid at heart, I am excited about a magical nite at the Magic Kingdom! It's also on the night of the Extra Magic Hours til 1:00 AM, so it's perfect!
Boma in the Animal Kingdom for dinner... DH is psyched because he loves exotic food and it sounds amazing and got it got excellent reviews in the Frommer's guide. We were also able to get this on the night where Animal Kingdom has later-evening hours.
Cape May Cafe- Character Breakfast at Disney Beach Resort. Location looks beautiful and something different!
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at the Pioneer Hall in the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. It's a dinner theatre type of thing and looks like so much fun!!! I also thought this would be fun so we can see another part of Disney; we wouldn't be going to Fort Wilderness otherwise. We were torn between this one and the dinner theatre "Aloha" at the Polynesian. I hope we made the right choice!!!
We also booked dinners at Ohana (at the Polynesian Resort) and the Coral Reef (at Epcot). We may give these up so we're not locked into ALL our evenings at the park (We want to try Downtown Disney and see what that's like) but the reservations are there if we need them.
Thoughts????
Definite negative to staying at Disney... you're forced to eat out at just about every meal...

Well we leave next Saturday and are eating at Boma and Ohana, so I can let you know how they are in 2 weeks.
Just so you know Boma is at the Animal Kingdon Lodge, not the animal kingdom, and they are not walking distance. So it may not matter than Animal Kingdom is open later that night.

Re: Okay...we booked our Disney restaurants...
Okay I have eaten at several of those.
Boma is a very good buffet. We enjoy it - you have to be willing to try new things but it was very good. We have always had a good meal there and we are not big on buffets. Plan for some extra time when you go - you won't see the animals when you dine but there are so many places to wonder before and after dinner and watch the animals it is worth it. At night they have a fire pit and tell stories around the rocking chairs. There are several places in the hotel arms where you can go and watch the animals on the various savannahs. It is one of my favorite hotels.
Coral reef the food is okay some of us liked our dishes better than others did (DH, DD and I just went with my parents back in Sept) - but it is nice to sit and watch the fish tanks from living with the seas we usually go there when we are in WDW. We have eaten there three times.
You didn't miss anything with Le Cellier it is very popular but we have given it two chances and honestly we never thought it was that good.
Ohana the food was okay to pretty good but it was a lot of fun. We would definitely go again. We just ate there for the 1st time this past Sept and had a great time. They have a women who comes and sings and they call up the kids and teach them to hula dance.
I haven't eaten at the castle but I'm sure you will enjoy it! EMH at night there are GREAT!!!!

I'll be there in 10 days. I am eating at all the things you have listed except for the Hoop De Do. If you want LeCellier, keep trying. Crazier things have happened

Re: Okay...we booked our Disney restaurants...
I've eaten at all of these except Boma so I can't comment on that one. I think overall you have made some great selections: Cinderella's Castle--food-wise this is definitely overpriced/rated but hey, who really goes to the Castle for the food-it's all about the atmosphere, right?
Cape May Cafe--love their character breakfast, this is where we own DVC so we go here every time. Food is great and we always stroll over to the boardwalk afterwards.
Hoop-d-Doo: this is a really fun night, food is good too
Ohana: I've only had breakfast there (the special bread is to die for!) but I've heard dinner is good too.
Coral Reef: I loved it here. I thought the food was really good and so neat to sit tankside.
Enjoy! Sounds like you have a great trip planned!

Re: Okay...we booked our Disney restaurants...
I was not a huge fan of Boma. Some things were good. Some things were just eh. I don't think I would return there. The desserts were delicious and so was one of the salads but beyond that not impressed.
Ohana. DELICIOUS and SOOOOO much food!!
We ate at
Kona dinner - Good but not as good as I remember
Coral Reef dinner - I wouldnt go back
Chef Mickeys breakfast - Yum with Mickey!
CRT breakfast - Good but you are mainly there to see the princesses
Boma - read above
Le Cellier lunch- Yummy pretzel bread and filet!
Hollywood and Vine lunch - Surprisingly impressed!
Ohana dinner - above

Re: Okay...we booked our Disney restaurants...
I have done Ohana's and Cape May. Ohana's dinner was great mainly for the entertainment and also we always get a window seat to watch the fireworks over the castle. They turn the lights down and play disney music to go along with it. You have to eat fairly late to be able to see it. It's definitely worth it.
Cape May Character breakfast is great. Their buffet is better than other one's. Even I wasn't impressed with Chef Mickey's and that's popular for breakfast. We've also done the Winnie the Pooh breakfast and that's fun too!
Have fun!

Re: Okay...we booked our Disney restaurants...
Boma is by far the best restaurant!! you'll absolutely love it. Even when I lived in Florida, we would go occasionally to eat there and go every vacation we take. Ohana is amazing too!! cape may cafe was pretty good, haven't been to hoop de doo or cinderellas. i have heard hoop de doo was a little over rated and cinderellas is just normal food but you're really paying for the entertainment! but you made a great decision with boma and ohana. definitely my faves! the bread pudding at both places are to die for!
