I was wondering about something...
I spoke to my doctor about how we are trying, and it didn't happen. She said only 25% of couples get pregnant the first time they try. And it could take a few months of trying.
Why?
I'm not sure why if you have sex when you are ovulating each month, why it would take after a few months and not the first time? Does your body have to get used to the sperm or something?
Also, while I am asking stupid questions, I heard women saying if they are trying for a girl, they BD a few days before they ovulate because girl sperm live longer.
But, what if it's all boy sperm that gets shot? How would one know what sperm is actually going to survive, if any? Is there any real research on that, or is that an old wive's tale?
Just curious....

Re: I was wondering about something...
I think she meant that there's only a 25% chance of getting pregnant each month (if you do everything right). That is the statistic that I have heard.
As far as the boy/girl thing... I don't think it would be possible for someone to only produce male sperm - KWIM?

Re: I was wondering about something...
Well EWCM is what helps the sperm to survive...
Basically sperm carrying the female chromosome live longer, but sperm carrying the male chromosome swim faster.
So if you have sex earlier before O, then the chances are that the male sperm will swim quickly, but will die off faster, allowing the female carrying sperm to fertilize the egg.
If you have sex right before ovulation, the male carrying sperm (which are very fast) will be the only ones who make it there to fertilize the egg.
Does that make sense?

Sure does! But is it possible to BD right before O and have a girl make it to the finish line? Just curious....

Of course!
I don't think it's an exact science - but there are people who are trying for a certain sex and will plan when they BD around that theory specifically, KWIM? I don't think it's 100% accurate - or even close!
