Picking up my dog from being spayed
I miss her sooo much!
Anyway- what should I expect? Is she going to be sluggish for a few days? I know the vet is giving her meds to go home with. I'm concerned with how she'll be tomorrow when she's home alone.
Thanks!

Re: Picking up my dog from being spayed
Awww she'll be OK don't worry!!!! She'll definitely be a little sluggish but she'll get better each day, by the weekend she'll be her old self again!! And being home alone is probably BETTER for her than anything, she'll just sleep and lie around; if you were there she'd probably want to play and cuddle, so while you're out she can just REST!!!

Re: Picking up my dog from being spayed
Thanks Colette!
She's home. She is absolutely miserable. I'm proud of myself. I've only cried twice.
She is beyond sluggish. She is barely moving. They gave her her pain meds already today so I guess she's just gotta sleep it off. Hopefully by tonight she'll be a bit more lifelike
I'll keep you updated

Re: Picking up my dog from being spayed
Aww - poor baby!!
Char lost her appetite just a little - wasn't in the mood to really eat or do anything besides lay on her bed. I gave her the woobie to curl up with. We were lucky - she never bit at her stitches so she never needed the "cone". But, she was definitely depressed for a day or so.
I felt SO bad for her but she got over it in no time.
Hang in there!!

aw, it was so sad watching ollie in pain. She was not comfortable for that whole night but the next day she wanted to run around like a maniac.

Re: Picking up my dog from being spayed
My dog was EXTREMELY groggy and wouldn't eat or drink until later at night. We could barely get her to take her pain pill. She just slept a lot, and was acting more herself the next day, and pretty much back to 100% (aside from the stiches) 2 days later.

Re: Picking up my dog from being spayed
I dont know if there is a difference between dogs and cats but let me tell you Sushi was not "out of it." She was stoned out of her mind and couldnt walk straight but she insisted on still trying to play. I was so afraid she was going to hurt herself since she was practicaly bumping into walls and things. It was so sad to watch

Re: Picking up my dog from being spayed
IDK. Daisy is just laying here. She wants no part of anything besides laying on her bed.
She had the surgery yesterday, so Im hoping she'll be more like herself by tomorrow.
On a good note, she did do #1 (2xs) and #2 (1x) since she's been home. Thats a good sign!
I just want to cuddle with her until shes okay again- poor baby

Re: Picking up my dog from being spayed
I just got my dog spayed last week. She was sleepy the first day and cried a bit for the first two days, but then she was back to normal. She still has her stitches and the big cone on her head, but the toughest thing now is keeping her calm because all she wants to do is play!
