Spinoff: moms of 2- carseat positions?
Sweetbabydream's post got me thinking. We always had DD's infant seat in the center because I heard that was safest. I just recently moved her convertible seat to the side because it's too hard to reach in with the belly to buckle her. When this baby comes along, should I be putting the infant seat on the opposite side or should I still be trying to squeeze it into the center right next to DDs seat? I have a Hyundai Elantra so it's on the smaller side.

We plan on putting new baby behind passanger seat rear facing and DD behind driver forward facing. Ideally I would love to put new baby in middle, but that would be too close to DD and afraid she may reach for new baby and possible scratch him/her by accident.

We have a truck so we can put DS#1 on the side, and the infant seat in the middle with plenty of room. I am not sure what we are going to do in my mother's Rav-4 though....

When DS2 was born, we put the infant car seat behind the driver's seat and the convertible behind the passenger seat. I figured it was quicker and easier to unclick the infant seat in case we were parked on the street than to have to buckle and unbuckle the convertible.

Originally, I put DS1 behind the passenger and DS2 behind the driver. When I went to the inspection place, they reversed it. They felt you can see the baby better behind the passenger. Once I start drop off at DS1's school, I will switch it but for now this works. Only annoying thing is when DS1 kicks me

This is what we did. It's the safest way, from a traffic point of view.
Many cars (including my PT Cruiser) say that you cannot have a seat in the middle if you have one on the end. You can only have two seats if there is one on either side. The middle is only to be used by itself.
Check your car's owner's manual to see if they mention anything about it.
