Folic Acid?
Are you taking a folic acid supplement? My prenatal has a very small amount. Who's taking extra?

My OB gave me a separate prescription. I would highly advise that! I have been taking folic acid for awhile anyway because I used to be on a drug that depeleted my body of it!

i take them STILL (i'm 18 weeks pregnant). I was taking Spring Valley Natural Folic Acid - but it was only 400mcg. We recently switched to: america's choice folic acid - as it's 800 mcg.
Dave also takes them. He's older than me and i have read several studies that says for 'older' men (he's only 5 years older than me, but that puts him at 39 this year), the folic acid can help prevent birth defects in his sperm.

my prenatal has 800 mcg's already. i made sure to find one that already had it so that i wouldnt have to take any more pills than i already do lol!

My cardiologist actually recommended that I take a folic acid supplement a few months ago. Then when I went for my annual OB/GYN appointment, she told me to start taking a folic acid supplement 2-3 months before starting to TTC and I mentioned that I had already started so she was happy to hear that.
My multivitamin has 400mcg, and I take an additional 2 folic acid pills of 400mcgs each. I believe they recommend 1,000mcgs a day (would have to double check that though!).
