Prenatal vitamins- the benefits?
My OB said that he will prescribe prenatal vitamins a few months before we try and TTC.
I hears some annoying side effects of these, like nausea, and some others.
This might come out weird, but for those who are taking them... what are the positive side effects you have experienced?
For example- I heard that it can make your hair grow faster and be shinier... have any of you ladies experienced this?
Thanks ladies

Re: Prenatal vitamins- the benefits?
I recently bought from target RAINBOW LIGHT PRENATAL ONE multivitamin. I think they were $10 for a bottle of 50.
It says gentle on stomach so that sold me. I take probiotic pills daily as well to help my stomach too.
I havent had any bad effects like constipation or nausea. i take them with a meal and its been fine. they dont repeat on me either. My nails are growing fast! I haven't noticed anything about my hair yet. that would be nice.

Re: Prenatal vitamins- the benefits?
i take the Womens One A Day Prenatals ($13 for a months supply) and at first i was VERY nauseous from it! i wanted to stop taking them but a friend told me that it passes and you'll get used to it. so i kept with it and low and behold the naseau does in fact subside! i just make sure i take them with food so i usually take it with dinner.
as far as pros, ive found less hair has been falling out than usual, my nails are stronger, and my skin is super soft and i used to have acne around my temple area and its completely gone!

Re: Prenatal vitamins- the benefits?
I take the DuetDHA.. They definitely bother my stomach if I take them before eating, which is VERY annoying. I usually take my meds in the am before work & eat once I get to work.. nope, not anymore.. had to change my schedule. They also give me the fish burps. They even made me vomit a couple of times- sorry, TMI.
I haven't noticed any differences in my hair yet. My nails are definitely growing faster though. Thats about it.
I'm thinking of changing to Target. I hear they're just as good (with a folic acid supplement) and much cheaper.

I tried a bunch of samples from my OB until I found one I liked, I have been on Primacare One for a few months.
My nails are stronger, haven't noticed anything with my hair!

I had the same experience. I was nauseous for 2 or so days and then I was good to go! My nails grow faster. . . .thats all.

I am not nauseous but honestly I have seen no difference in my hair or nails. I think I was doing pretty good getting vitamins and minerals from my diet to begin with so that may be why.

Re: Prenatal vitamins- the benefits?
Thanks everyone. I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens. I'll most likely be starting them in a year or so, since that's around when we will be starting... I can't wait!!

They are totally worth it because you are improving your health and immunity
I was going to mention that my hair is growing like a weed! I love it!
And it is shiny.
It also makes nails stronger and skin clearer.
