What do you wear on the plane for a long flight?
We are flying to Germany next week, and I am always torn on what to wear.
It's an overnight flight, so I want to be comfortable and wear comfy pants. BUT, when we arrive, I don't want to look stupid wearing sweatpants, so I don't know if I should wear jeans.
Do you change at the hotel? Do you even care? I feel silly for even caring.
Also, what about coming home?

Re: What do you wear on the plane for a long flight?
For long flights like that, I cannot wear jeans.. I get very bloated when I fly and jeans are just not comfortable! I will wear sweat pants especially on an overnight flight. I'll freshen up in the bathroom before we land (fix hair, maybe add a bit of make up, brush teeth, etc). Flying makes me anxious to begin with and I absolutely need to be comfortable!

For long flights I'll wear nice jeans to the airport and change into something more comfy on the plane. Then before we land change back into jeans. I also feel uncomfortable wearing yoga pants or sweats in the airport.

Sweat pants, tshirt, with a zipped hoodie over it. Sneakers, but change into slippers on the plane.
Comfort before ANYTHING on long flights, I don't care what I look like at the airport, to the cab driver, or to the front desk clerk. When I get to my room, however, I immediately shower, put on "real" clothes, makeup, etc.

I wear sweats and a hoodie. Depending on how long the flight is (12 hours +), I will bring a change of clothes.
Of all the times I've flown to Germany, I just wore sweats. I lived there so when I was coming home it was from a home visit. It was a pain to get back to my apartment, b/c it was a small university town, so I wanted to be comfy.

I might not be the right person to ask because I don't really care what I look like when I land. I usually where a matching sweat set.

Re: What do you wear on the plane for a long flight?
I wear a nice Sweat pants outfit. (nothing with stripes)
Please bring a pair of slippers for the bathroom trips...once you take your shoes off its hard to get them back on when you are up in the air.
Bathroom floors get really gross after a long flight yuk

ITA!!! slippers are key for me as i have varicose veins and my feet swell on long flights making my shoes feel tight.

Re: What do you wear on the plane for a long flight?
on our flight to and from Europe a few weeks ago I wore jeans and a sweater - and Sketchers. when we landed in Paris I had slept less than 1 hour and it was 6am NY time. yea, I care what I look like
I just wanted to be comfortable, and I was.
on a side note, the seats on Air France are the most uncomfortable I have EVER experienced on a plane. it was an Airbus, so maybe that's why.

I've flown on a few airbus planes and it really depends on the airline. They (the airline) decide seat configuration and size. The best flight I ever had was on Thai Airways in an Airbus 340. Heavenly!

Heavenly! that makes sense. I have been on JetBlue before (they only have Airbuses) and even though it was a shorter flight, the seats were much more comfortable. the seats on Air France felt like I was sitting on a brick, and hardly any leg room. it really sucked!
thankfully on the way home, we flew KLM, and it was a 747. SO much better!

That really sucks that Air France has badly configured planes! Sorry you had such a bad flight. Not a fun way to start off your trip. Thanks for the heads about Air France though

Re: What do you wear on the plane for a long flight?
stretchy skinny jeans that i have room in, boots with thick socks, comfy strechy shirt and a wrap sweater or blazer over it
i can take the boots off during the flight but when i walk out of the plane i dont look too sloppy, esp if we are walking around and the hotel room is not ready
