Dentists and the 2ww

I have a dentist check up today (cleaning and x-rays). Do you think it's safe to have x-rays in the 2ww or should I tell my doctor? Chat Icon

honestly, I would personally not be afraid of the x-rays. If you tell them - look I'm trying to get pregnant they may put an extra thing over you doing the xrays, or leave it up to you to decide. It's very important to take care of your teeth if you are PG - I'd personally want the xrays as long as the doc didn't think it was a terrible idea. but I supposse that maybe I'm on the "less" cautious side about these things.....I would trust my dentist opinion though

Re: Dentists and the 2ww

i was just researching this myself b/c i have an implant coming up...i read on here that they should put two covers over you for the xrays and u should be fine, but def. let them know you are TTC. i ended up having to switch my appointment till after 2WW b/c i will probably be needed extra anesthetics and i worry too much if i am indeed pregnant. but for just a cleaning you should be fine.

Re: Dentists and the 2ww

No x-rays if there is a chance you are PG.

I had to postpone dental work/xrays when I was PG with DS. I even had to do a pregnancy test earlier because there was a possibility I was PG.... which I was.

Dental work is ONLY in emergencies. And 2nd trimester is best IF it must be done.

Some places will do a cleaning some won't until 2nd trimester.

Okay so I called the dentist out of fear. They said no x-rays and if I do need dental work they need a doctor from my OB if I am definitely pregnant on how to proceed.

The things you have to think about sometimes! I wish I had done this before we started!

I had to postponne until DS was born. By then I was better and realized 1 year later I had to do it before TTC again. Now it's all taken care. Finally!!!!
