Has anyone ever heard of this?
I was told today that rather than do another stim cycle I should do another FET. I only have 2 embryos left, and we have enough on our insurance to do either 1 more FET w/ $ left over, or 1 more stim cycle (not sure if it would be fully covered since ALL bloodwork and sono fall under 'IF' and come out of my DH's 'lifetime max' of his infertility benefits). I was told today by my dr that he's "not sure that (I) have infertility". I don't even know what to say here.... I'm VERY lost. He thinks that I should do another FET rather than stim again, and his reasoning is that IF it works, AND we have a successful pregnancy and end up w/ a baby that THEN MAYBE my body COULD start to ovulate on it's own, and I wouldn't need IVF down the road again... So that's my question (sorry so long)- have you ever heard of someone's body starting to ovulate on their own if it didn't before? Essentially PG 'fixing' things? Is this common? TIA!

Re: Has anyone ever heard of this?
I am not sure that I like the answer your dr has given you "He is not sure if you have IF? What does he think you have a cold?
If you were to do a FET, are your embryos of the highest quality? What will you do differently this cycle then last?
I would not accept these answers. Have you gone for a second opion yet?
I have heard many stories of women who battle IF and doe IUIs or IVF and become pregnant. And within a few months of given birth are pregnant on their own.
I also know of a family who battled IF for 17 years (they married very young) and just as their adoption was being finalized, she found out she was pregnant. And within a year was pregnant again! She had 3 under 3! Crazy I tell you.
The body is a strange organism. I think we are affected by our environment, the foods we eat, the chemicals we expose ourselves to.
It is a hard decision to make and I wish you much luck!

If you do not O then you have an IF issue...I would seek a second opinion especially if you are on your last paid cycle. Your Dr has had his chance with you

ITA with this. If you have one cycle left either fresh or frozen I would think very hard before doing a frozen. I know my IF issues are different than PCOS but for me TTC#2 was harder than #1. I would definitely seek another opinion before using the last of your ins for a FET. I am actually shocked that he said this to you.

I agree. It can't hurt to have more information to make your decision.

Re: Has anyone ever heard of this?
You know my thoughts on this. It doesn't hurt to get a 2nd opinion. Some RE's even do free phone consultations.
I didn't know he told you he's not even sure you have infertility!!!! What does he think you have??? You've been trying for 5 years. If that's not a problem, I don't know what is! How many years do you have to be trying for him to diagnose you as infertile???? That bothers me.
Just remember, I was dealing with only MF when we first started this. I got pg so easily with my first IVF cycle. Now, other things are popping up that weren't an issue originally. Granted, some people get pg after IVF but others only have more problems.
I know you have a lot to think about. Just take some time. I just don't want you to have any regrets like I do. I really wish I would have at least gone for a consult before my last cycle. I don't know if it would have changed things but at least I'd have no regrets.

Shannon - I agree with the others. Get a 2nd opinion. What kind of answer is that? He doesn't know if you really are dealing with infertility?

Re: Has anyone ever heard of this?
2nd opinion couldnt hurt I guess...I have heard of people getting pg. on their own many times after undergoing IF treatments getting pg and to later go on to conceive on their own ( hence the kickstarting your fertility theory I guess) but saying at this point that he's not sure you have IF has me I don't think that its the norm though, but a possibility none the less.... I'm assuming what he is saying is that you should use the frosties because they may end up not getting used in the future should you get pg. on your own again without help ? Maybe he's thinking from a financial aspect ? Because you will have to pay the monthly fee for the frozen embies, and if another fresh cycle yields more frosties that will be another seperate frozen fee because they are collected at at different time ??? I'm just trying to figure his angle here ...

Re: Has anyone ever heard of this?
I vote second opinion for sure...what do you have if not infertility??
As for the getting pg on your own after fertility treatment, I know one person that this happened for and one that didn't have IF per se but had "issues" and then had her cycles restored to normal after her first pregnancy.
Keep us posted and good luck!!

Wow, I would be running to get a second opinion. You don't have infertiltiy?? I'm really not understanding why he would tell you this after all you have been through
