For those who are TTC after being on BC
I have been on the pill for .. lets see.. almost 12 years.
For those who have been on BC around as long as me, how long did your doctor suggest going off the pill before TTC?
Mine said like 2-3.. just wanted to see what others have said. I am nervous it may take me extra long since I have been on the pill for so long

I was on the pill, on and off for about 15 years. I went off it in October 2006, and got PG in Feb 07. so, 4 months.

I was on for about 13 years. I came off in April and was pregnant by July so 2 cycles

my OB said as long as it takes to ovulate... i ovulated one month after going off the pill. (i was on the pill for 12 years)
i can highly recommend getting yourself on Prenatal Vitamins as soon as you think about TTC'ing...they suggest that you have the vitamins in your system for 3 months prior to a pregnancy...

I am in the same boat you are! I have been on the pill for 10 years...my gyno told me it was okay to try as soon as i went off the pill. I just went off the first week in December....and we started trying. Im not expecting anything yet....but ever since I went off the pill have had a lot of pregnancy and other weird side effects that are from my body trying to adjust from not having those hormones. I was on the pill for about 12 years. My OBGYN wanted me off them for about 2 months before we started to TTC. I was pretty regular right away but we are now on our 9th month of trying and seeing a RE.

i just went off of it like 2 1/2 mos ago--and having our first appt. with a new ob/gyn soon--so i'm wondering what he's gonna say and maybe recommend pre-natals.
eta: i've been on BCP on and off for 11 years.

my dr said to just start trying but not to expect anything right away. i was on the pill for about 10 years and went off 3 months ago. i ovulated the next month like i was never on it!

I was on the pill for 8 years, and my dr. also said 2-3 months after...we can TTC.
It really depends on your body type:
*Some girls have a reg. cycle immediately after they go off the pill
*Some girls don't have a reg. cycle after going off the pill (in this case, studies show if you did not regulate after 45-60 days, you should revisit your dr.)
*Some girls have a reg. cycle and then miss their AF for 2-3 months but are not PG. and then AF comes again

(Just in my case, I did have 28 day cycles on the pill, now my cycles are a bit longer at 32 days)

I was nervous too DH and I took a see what happens approach as soon as I came of the pill, never imagining I could get PG right away, but I did...the 1st month off the pill. No temping, no tracking....heck I had no clue when I ovulated or when my fertile days were.

everyone one is different my friend just stopped taking her BC 8 weeks ago and she just found out she is almost 6 weeks pregnant

I was on BC for about 10 years.....came off it Jan. 08, conceived Dec. 08. I came off it in January b/c my prescription was up and I figured I would get it out of my system b/c I didn't know at what point in '08 I'd be ready to TTC.

I was on the pill for 9 years. My doctor said we could start TTC as soon as I went off the pill. I got pregnant that first month. Everyone is different. Good luck!
