My astham is KILLING me - Suggestions?
So the Dr. said it was possible for my allergies / asthma to get better OR worse during pregnancy - Of course mine are worse. - Especially at night - I keep waking up unable to breathe w/ the nagging old lady smoker wheezing thing in my lungs -
I HATE using the nebulizer if I don't HAVE to .........but this past week has been brutal - I haven't been doing a full treatment, just 2 or 3 minutes helps me tremendously - but still ............-

Are you on maintenance medication???
I am also an asthmatic. I've been on Advair the whole pregnancy and have had no problems, barely have had to use my inhalor and have yet to use my neb.....
Maybe your maintenence medications need to be revised or you need to go on some. Its better to be on maintenenace then using the albuterol/ned so often because of teh adverse side effects!!

I take singulair and Claratin every day for my allergies and asthma. - Usually it's completely fine. - But this past week or 2 has been bad - Really just at night though .......
I've been trying to research the nebulizer treatment but I can't find anything re: pregnancy -

Re: My astham is KILLING me - Suggestions?
I would call your pulmonologist or whoever takes care of your asthma nd let them know what is going on and that you are PG....
THey may want to put you on somethign else if you are having a hard time.....
I know my midwife would MUCH rather me be on the in haled steroid (Advair) then take my inhalor, let alone a neb.
She said if I had to take my albuterol inhalor more than 1X a week that was too much........

I have to at how DIFFERENT every Dr.'s opinion is - it makes me freakin' crazy !! - I just called to double check w/ OB's office and she said the inhalers AND neb were fine - b/c I asked about 50x if they were safe - but she wanted me to have everything checked out in case they felt I needed additional meds - So, off to the Dr. I go ..........
