Pre-Natal Vitamin
I did not renew my pill prescription and AF will be ending on Monday. When do I start taking the vitamins? I'm really not going to TTC officially, but will probably not use any other form of birth control. My gyno said if that was the case, then he wanted me to take the vitamins, but if we were going to use condoms I didn't need to start until we were officially TTC. I'm clueless and obviously new to the board!! TIA!

Re: Pre-Natal Vitamin
well even before I officially started TTC I started taking over the counter prenatals per my doctors recommendation (CVS brand was I think $20 for 200 or 300 pills).....its good to build up your folic acid, so it doesn't hurt to take them.

Re: Pre-Natal Vitamin
Yeah, that's what I figured...I just didn't know if I should start after my period or when I would have started the new pack of pills.

Re: Pre-Natal Vitamin
You should start taking them 3 months prior to TTC according to my OB, but the sooner the better! Good luck!

Re: Pre-Natal Vitamin
You can start taking them now. As long as you have them in your system by the time you ovulate.
They recomend taking them 3 months prior to TTC b/c some women dont know there pregnant until much later and the first 2 weeks are the most important in brain development for a fetus.
