Talk to me about the CBEFM

Worth getting? When I was TTC the last time I used OPKs - wondering if when we're ready I should just go that route again or if it's worth investing in the monitor? Does it make life THAT much easier? If you own it, did you get it in advance of TTC or wait until you tried a couple of months and then broke down and got it? TIA!

ETA: I should say since I've been watching my cycles since getting AF back, I'm pretty much on target for O mid-month so I don't really have an unusual cycle.

You temp also, right?

I'd probably stick with OPKs.

We tried for 4 months before getting the CBEFM. IMO, it did make life much easier - but I kind of saw it as a "next step" rather than a first step, KWIM?

Re: Talk to me about the CBEFM

I just bought one from a fellow LIFer. I used OPKs until I got PG. Now, I will try again but with the CBEFM.

Not sure why but I feel it will help me (at least mentally!!!!).

Re: Talk to me about the CBEFM

Thank you!

I haven't started temping yet - right now I'm just charting CM and marking O from when I feel it since we're not trying yet. But, I will probably go back to temping when we do start - if it's feasible. Sometimes DS has an off week and I hear him up throughout the night so I'm not "up" but I sort of am, so I'm not sure how well/accurate temping will go with random night wakings.

Another thing I thought of, is it worth to have as birth control for the future? If you know when your peak days are, wouldn't it be helpful in natural family planning. I went off the pill once we got married and hadn't intended on going back on if I don't have to.

NOOOOOO

NEVER use OPK, CBEFM as a birth control. It clearly states it should not be use for that purpose.

If you BD, sperm can stay in you for 5 hours but also up to 5 days.

NOT a good idea!!Chat Icon
