The "in-between" phase
So... I'm 16 weeks now... I don't have a cute belly yet, but I no longer have my small frame. Most of my pants still fit and others are getting tight. Did anyone else go through this? I feel like I either look a bit bloated or I ate a big meal and not look so much pregnant. My hips are getting bigger too. Oh, and of course my boobs are huge, which DH loves since I'm normally a small B.

Re: The "in-between" phase
yes!!! I hated the in between phase. I had nothing to wear, regular clothes just didn't fit comfortably any more and maternity clothes were still too big. I stayed that way until about 19-20 weeks.

Re: The "in-between" phase
I'm in the same phase and I'm 24 weeks pregnant! My regular pants stopped fitting me but I still don't have a pregnancy belly. I switched to maternity pants last week though. I felt like I couldn't breathe in my old pants. These pants are made to stretch as you grow. Go buy them.
My pregnant friend is ahead of me and she started wearing maternity pants pretty early. Now her first batch of maternity pants are too small and she needs to get larger pants. I don't know if this is the norm.

Re: The "in-between" phase
when i was PG i was able to wear most of my regular shirts the entire time, but my pants stopped fitting me almost the instant i got my BFP
i STRONGLY suggest getting the secret fit belly pants from motherhood maternity - they will fit you very early on and stretch to fit your belly as you grow, and they are VERY comfortable. i was able to wear mine from month 3-9.

These are the pants that I have that I am wearing even though I am an awkward size. They are super comfy! Plus they cost only $30-40.

Same here.. and i am between sizes too.. I bought them mostly in the larger size.. but they fall down a lot!!! AND I needed to get them hemmed.. but going to motherhood maternity at the source mall made it worth it.. they are not that expensive... I was in maternity pants for comfort around 17 weeks, I tried the bella band and I hated it... it always rode up in the back!!
hope this helps!

I also hated the bella band. I found it to be very uncomfortable and felt my pants were constantly slipping down while the band was up.
I ordered a bunch of size small work pants from old navy maternity online. Those pants were HUGE and I was swimming in them. Instead of returning them, I was planning to wear them later when I get bigger.
I wish I had gone to Destination Maternity in Huntington sooner. I did go to the one at the Source mall but they didn't have a very large selection.

Re: The "in-between" phase
I switched to maternity pants quite early, about 9 weeks. I just couldn't stand the tight pants on my belly. It made me sick. I tried the bella band, but, I really hated it. So I just gave up really early and made the leap.
Now I am in maternity tops, sort of, at 14 weeks. My other tops were riding up and showing the ever so attractive top of the maternity pants. But, I mostly had tops that hit my waist. I hated the way the longer tops looked on me. So I grew out of them earlier than most.
I am also 5 foot tall and I think that has a lot to do with it. I only gained 5 pounds and I totally popped this past week.
So, I would just buy the pants and wear your own shirts as long as you can. No need to spend money you don't have to.

Re: The "in-between" phase
I hate this in between phase!! On one hand I'm in no rush to get big b/c I know there will be plenty of time for that but on the other hand I'd like to look pregnant and not just bloated! My pants still just fit at 14 weeks but after I eat a big meal forget it!!

Re: The "in-between" phase
I'm STILL in this in between phase - At 21 weeks !!!
When I'm bloated I look like I popped - but it's just bloat, not a "REAL" baby belly ........The next morning I wake up looking normal again- most of my pants still fit and those that don't I use the bella band b/c I need to unbutton, but not unzip yet .....
I'm hoping by Christmas, I look at least a LITTLE bit 'obviously' PG - it's annoying to have people ask when I'm due and then look @ me like "You don't even LOOK PG" ........Yeah, just fat for now !!

People are always super surprised that I'm 6 months pregnant. They constantly tell me that I don't look pregnant. I just look like I ate too much.

Some of my friends and co-workers joke that their non-pregnant bellies are bigger than my baby belly.

Re: The "in-between" phase
16 weeks is when my pants got uncomfortably tight, so I invested in the bella band, and still wear it.
14-20 weeks were the best for me. Felt relieved to be out of the 1st tri, even though it was a breeze for me, and none of the other pregnancy woes had set in yet - swelling, carpal tunnel, GD, etc, etc, etc!
