Re: is it true
When people say that the male determines the sex, they mean the sperm.
Women carry the "x" half... and the sperm that penetrates the egg can carry either the "y" (meaning you'd have a boy) or the "x" (meaning you'd have a girl)...
Does that make sense?

ok. yes... but then, when the sperm penetrates the egg, if it carries x and y sperm, what determines whether it is the x or the y that penetrates? am i making sense or should i just go to bed? hahahaha

it's just the luck of the draw.
But there are ways to tip the scales, male sperm can swim faster but female sperm can live longer...i *think* I can never remember So the closer you are to O'ing when you BD the better your chances are of having a boy.

Re: is it true
well, the man determines the sex of the baby
the fact that he is one of 3 boys is not what determines it
it is the chromosomes in his sperm - the man has x and y chromosomes and women only have x

depends on which one gets through to the egg

Re: is it true
The male's sperm that penetrates the egg is what determines the baby's sex. If the sperm has an X chromosome, it is a female, y makes it a male. Just because your DH has 2 brothers does not mean you will necessarily have only boys.

Re: is it true
yes the male determines the sex. But my DH has 2 sisters and I have 2 boys. so you won't necesserily have all boys. And why would you over that? People ask me all the time if I am now trying for the girl. And honestly I would be just as happy with another boy as I would with a girl as long as it is healthy.
And if it makes you feel better I have 4 brothers. they each have a boy and a girl.

the sperm doesn't carry both. each individual sperm carries either an 'x' or a 'y'. the egg carries an 'x'.
if an 'x' sperm fertilizes the egg, then the embryo will be 'xx' --> girl
if a 'y' sperm fertilizes the egg, then the embryo will be 'xy' --> boy
does that make sense?
