My new thing to be thankful for....
is that I don't live too close to my SIL!
She is enough to drive me to drink, I swear, and I'm not a drinker.
First she introduced herself in front of me to DH's grandpa's healthcare aide as "I'm the youngest---- the one with the baby!" and nicely glanced over at me. Then throughout the night she kept making verbal jabs at me.... but my parents celebrated w/ us tonight so they got to see her true colors. Then she made some comments about how I run the show and how her dad would rather sit next to me than her... Then when she asked what a certain pie was I said I had brought a couple of pies for dessert that we had bought from a local pie/apple cider place out here, and named the pies---- she said yeah, you only bought yours, I MADE MINE- AND I Have a baby! I swear- one of these days I'm going to smack her!!!!! Mind you I offered to make pies but they told me it's my "SIL's thing" to make x, y and z things every year--- so I could just pick a couple up! So, on this Thanksgiving- I'm thankful that I don't see her often (though still several times a month!)

What an evil wench!
Thanks! Seriously, she really go to me tonight, and I hate that she did. I actually on the way home and completely when I got home (my parents and a family friend were in the car w/ us so I couldn't totally break down in front of them). I'm just so furious... and I know- it's not going to do me any good, but I can't help how I feel. I have to go back there tomorrow and will be there until Saturday night getting ready for our fair and open house and I am just that I don't have to see her again this weekend (she lives locally).

I don't blame you for being upset. I totally would be just as sad and livid as you are. It's wrong for her to pour salt in your wounds by rubbing it in your face that she has a baby. It's really just not right.
I hope you can avoid her all weekend.

Re: My new thing to be thankful for....
That's horrible - she obviously has some self confidence issues that are manifesting in her little digs to you That's very, very sad. I think at some point, if you have the strength, I would say, in as nice and graceful as a way possible, that you don't appreciate the comments, the next time she makes one

Re: My new thing to be thankful for....
Can DH say something? Someone should.
I may have taken a piece of her pie and secretly buried a piece of hair in it. Then, in front of everyone, I would have help up the gloppy hair and said that it came out of the pie and that she should tie her hair back when she bakes. That would teach her.
(Okay, I wouldn't really have done that. I would have thought of it though and then been mad at myself for not having had the guts.)

Re: My new thing to be thankful for....
Thanks guys, I knew you'd all understand. I woke up i a better mood. Oh, just to set the record straight, her "baby" is 4 1/2 years old so IMO he's not a baby and hasn't been in quite some time. It was funny, he supposedly helped her make her food (which was a 'homemade' chocolate pudding pie, which my DH who doesn't cook could've made- add milk and pudding, boil, pour pudding into store bought pie crust and you're done!, served w/ canned whipped cream, as well as packaged brownie mix that she added eggs and whatever else to and baked! I was glad- my MIL made a comment to her when she asked my MIL why she didn't have time to make one of the pies she makes every year (one of the ones I brought for the same reason-pumpkin) and my MIL didn't hold her tongue and said it was b/c she was watching my SIL's son for OVER 10 hours yesterday! Too bad it wasn't in front of everyone at the table, but at least I got to see it get said! So my SIL had time to shop and do whatever she needed to to get ready- not to mention my nephew goes on the computer and watches TV like it's going out of style (not my preference). And I just remembered supposedly she's stopping by the fair this weekend, so I am going to have to see her. Thanks again everyone. You guys made me smile. Do you know she still hasn't had enough class, respect, common sense, whatever.... to apologize since hearing that I was pg for a short time, but am not any more? I don't understand her at all........

Re: My new thing to be thankful for....
So my question is, if she has a child and she can do anything and her life is so perfect...blah blah blah...WHY IS SHE SO BITTER?
I actually feel sorry for her. She's never going to be a happy person or have any true close relationships. I mean you are her SIL. What kind of competition/threat do you pose for her? Just stupid, she's very stupid.
I'm sorry that you got dealt with her in the package deal. I have 3 SIL's and I cannot imagine one of them doing anything like that. Or anyone in general acting like that.
There is nothing you did or anything you can do about her except to ignore her as much as possible. You are not a mean person and you should not have to stoop to her idiotic behavior. I'm sure everyone sees it. She'll just continue to make a fool of herself. Try not to let her get to you.
You are also on meds, so that can't be helping you.

I think you should say something to her. Next time she makes a comment I would take her aside and tell her that you find her comments regarding children very hurtful. But I am up for whooping her a** too

Yeah, both DH and I (not to mention my MIL) have said things to her in the past--- it's like water off a duck's back. She doesn't have any common sense when it comes to social skills--- so I'm out of luck there. I brought it up to both of my ILs yesterday (at different times) and my FIL told me he thought it was 'so funny'. which I'm still not following how it was funny... and my MIL said she "knew she was just kidding". Yeah, um, ok--- whatever you say!! I know my SIL well enough to know that she knows how to push my buttons and does every chance she gets. She was tryng to make me look bad in front of my family (not to mention DH's) but I hope that the only one who looked bad was her!
