I am so confused. UPDATED WITH QUESTION
I just got the call from the pharmacy (Schraft's).
Apparently, there are 10 medications being ordered for me. I didn't write them down because she was talking so fast and giving me my co-pays. The only ones I remember are
Menopur Dexamethasone Ganirelix Progesterone Suppositories Estrogen Patches
Those are the ones I need. They also threw in: Lupron PIO Baby Aspirin
And some others I can't remember.
Why are all of these being ordered for me if I only need the first ones?
ETA: I just called the pharmacy back to find out the other meds.
Doxycyclin methoprednasone novarel

I'm not sure, but maybe the last few are in case you get a BFP and need those right away? I have no clue - just guessing!

Re: I am so confused.
I'm not sure what your protocol is but, in my cycles, I used all that you mentioned except the lupron.

I agree w/ myson220... I used pretty much everything you mentioned except lupron in my cycle as well. They order it all in 1 shot usually and mail it to you. You'll need all of it before your beta test. You start on some of the meds around the time of your retrieval and others the day of or day after your transfer. HTH!

Re: I am so confused.
I had all those drugs except the baby aspirin - lupron I used before and after stimming, and the PIO shot you start before transfer. They order the drugs all together, making it more convenient for you.

Re: I am so confused. UPDATED W/ ANOTHER QUESTION
Okay- well I did some research and found that the Novarel is the HCG, the Methylprednasone is to reduce swelling, and the doxycycline is another antibiotic.
But doesn't the ganirelix take the place of the lupron? And why do I have one PIO injection AND capsules? Do I just take the one shot before transfer?

This is where that packet from orientation will be your friend! I didn't take lupron but ganirelix they usually have you take I did anyway) for 2 or 3 nights before triggering. The PIO I think you do 3 nights of shots if I recall correctly and then switch over to the progesterons capsules (which are to be used as suppositories) 4x a day for the rest of your 2ww. Then when you get the beta results that will determine if you stay on them or not. HTH!

Re: I am so confused. UPDATED WITH QUESTION
Usually ganerelix is used instead of lupron but I've heard of protocols where both are used so you'd have to check with your RE on that.
As for the PIO and suppositories, LI-IVF normally has you do both. The PIO is a vial of meds that is reusable so there are several doses in the one vial. You start that the night of your transfer and do the PIO for a couple of days and then switch to the suppositories.

Re: I am so confused. UPDATED WITH QUESTION
I was so overwhelmed when I got everything! truthfully, the nurse will give you your directions when you get up to it.
I thought how am i ever going to figure this out and i did! as for PIO...you do it the day after your retirieval and its done for 3 nights. then, you switch over to the suppositories!
I just had my transfer this morning...i am dreading the suppositories, I would prefer the shot. it didnt hurt me!!!
good luck...i just went through it all, so ask any questions you need to.
hope this helps!

Re: I am so confused. UPDATED WITH QUESTION
Thanks so much, girls
I just spoke to Gail and she said the Lupron might be used in place of the HCG because they can use it in a special way that will help prevent OHSS because I have PCOS.
I am feeling a little overwhelmed. I can't wait until I start so I can start separating things and figuring everything out.
