Re: I would like to introduce....

Adorable! Just gorgeous! But can I ask, is that true that he is just 6 weeks old? Did he leave his litter already?

It is not recommended for pups to leave their litter until at least 8 weeks apx, for the well being of the pup. They need to learn a few developmental milestones off their mom and siblings. I don't know where you got him, but whomever you got him from (esp if a reputable breeder) should know this.

I just wanted to share this with you for his well being as an FYI. Chat Icon

It is not recommended for pups to leave their litter until 10 weeks apx, for the well being of the pup. They need to learn off their mom and siblings. I don't know where you got him, but they should know this, it's very important.

Yep he's 6 weeks. We do have him already...I thought he was a little young myself.

The breeder is reputible. My MIL has worked for a vet for years and they take care of this womens pups. She personally delivered him from out of state.

He seems older than 6 weeks though. Is it unusual for a 6 week old puppy to be paper trained already? He loves his crate....has barely howled...settles right down....knows when you are making his food and gets all excited...

6 weeks is young. Rule of thumb is they should not go before 8 weeks. Do you have a birth certificate, maybe he is 6+ weeks? I do think he could easily know how to use paper, they are used to going on papers while being corraled with their mom and litter. I am glad that your MIL and the vet know this woman personally. I am just very surprised she would not wait out another week or two for the pups. But yes, he is just gorgeous and I wish you the best with him!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I would like to introduce....

I wish you many years of happiness with your new beautiful baby..

If he is actually 6 weeks old I would make sure I socialize the heck out of him w/other dogs and people.. every chance you get w/him to be w/another dog take it.. (of course if the other dog is socialized as well) This will minmize any agression he may develop.. Good luck Chat Icon

Re: I would like to introduce....

He looks big to be a 6 week old boxer. Close friends of our just recently got a boxer pup (10 weeks) and was that size.

Double check your paperwork and makesure the age is accurate. I agree with teh previous posters that they really aren't suppose to leave their mother until at LEAST 8 weeks.

We got one of our rescue mixes when he was 6 weeks old because he was abandoned at a shelter. While he is hte sweetest, most loveable mush in the world we are dealing with some anxiety/attachemnt issues because he was seperated from his litter at a young age.

This isn't meant ot scare you. but if in fact your puppy is only 6 weeks you may want to do a little research on properly socializing him young to avoid MAjor potetial problems.

He is absolutely adorable!!! Chat Icon

Re: I would like to introduce....

OMG!!! heather hes simply beautiful!!!

I am looking forward to getting my hands on him.

We are going to start his training very soon!

as for the breeder youi picked a very good breeder. In my background i have 10 yrs of dog training and i have 3 champion dogs in agility and 2 in obedience. I have met several breeders and handlers, that heard of this woman and is very reputable. 6 weeks is not young, it depends on the breeder they can go between 6-8 weeks.
