how many eggs to put back????
sorry if i ramble on....
i am starting my first ivf this week. i have to bring back my consent form and agree to how many eggs we put back.
i have a history of miscarriages. my question is do i out back 2 or 3 eggs? dr k had said to me before that even if i get pregnant with more than one, i should prepare myself that i could still miscarry one of the babies.
with that thinking, i feel like i should put back 3 b/c if 2 take, i would be okay.
if i put back 2 and only 1 takes and i miscarry, i will regret my decision.
does any of this make sense??? any thoughts????

I am also starting my first IVF and was along the same lines of thinking. Dr. K told me 2 during our consult- but I think I would rather do 3 to give me a better shot, ya know? I also have miscarried in the past.
i don't even know if we are given the choice- but if you are, I would do 3.

Thanks, i actually spoke to my IVF nurse today. She was going to talk to Dr. K and then we will decide on wednesday. i keep thinking i want the best shot possible. I'll let you know what they tell me!

You also might want to check with your ins if you have coverage. My insurance will only allow me to put 2 in per transfer which I think is really weird. They are not my RE how can they say? But its in my provision of benefits.

You also have to look at it from the other side...what if all three take. I don't know how old you are or if you have any high risk issues, but even if you have no other issues are you prepared to carry triplets or deal with selective reduction?
How many to put back is dependent on a lot of factors. When I first started we were only putting two back...but I wasn't getting pregnant at all so we started upping the embryos.

My last cycle I put back 5 embryos with the understanding that if more then 3 took, then I would have to reduce. It was a chance I was willing to take!!!

I had a history of 2 chemical pregnancies before my IVF and I only put back 1 on a 5dt. I was not willing to risk multiples and luckily the 1 took. I think age is a big factor with how many to put back and whether or not you are willing to risk multiples. This is a very personal decision.
