Headaches and more headaches

I have had a headache for three straight days now. I've been consistantly getting them for about three weeks now. I try and not take any Tylenol for it but I really am having a tough time getting through the day.

Is this related to not getting enough fluids/water? If this is a sinus infection can you take something for it?? Anyone else have similiar experiences?

Re: Headaches and more headaches

i've been getting headaches consistantly throughout this pregnancy, they let up a little, but i just had one the other day again (im 23 wks). My Dr told me to take tylenol and drink a cup of coffee and to rest in a dark room if possible.

Re: Headaches and more headaches

You should definitley up your fluid intake right at the onset of a headache to try to prevent it from getting worse- a lot of water and a little bit of caffeine should help a little. If it really gets that bad, take the Tylenol. There is no need for you to be in constant pain. Chat Icon

Re: Headaches and more headaches

HEadaches are usually the first sign of dehydration so make sure you are drinking lots of water. Also, your mucous membranes swelling during pregnancy causeing lots of sinus issues and pressure which can also contribute to the headache.

If you are in the second half of your second trimester or third you should mention to your practitioner if you have chronic headaches because they can also be a sign of impending toxemia or pre-eclampsia.

When I have a bad headache I will drink a few glasses of water first and wait 30-60 min. If it doesn't go away I'll take a tylenol and something with a little caffeine. 9/10 the water does the trick!

Feel better!

Re: Headaches and more headaches

It could definitely be dehydration. I am 17 weeks and have been getting headaches the entire time. Doctor said to make sure I was drinking enough water. (which I know I wasn't!) I did take Tylenol once or twice when it was really bad. Dr. said it was ok.

I have been getting lots of headaches. I try to stay very hydrated, get plenty of rest, and take a tylenol if its really bad.

Re: Headaches and more headaches

Thank you all for the suggestions. I am actually 15 weeks and have been nauseas and find it very difficult to down a glass of water. I have a feeling its because I'm not getting enough fluids. This pregnancy is definitely different than my first.

Re: Headaches and more headaches

There could be a few causes. Yes, needing more fluids is one of them. For me, around 10 weeks I started getting them and they lasted for 8 days straight before I finally called the doctor. They said (for me anyway) the cause was my hormone levels rising and one alternative to medicine was to have a little caffeine every day. So I can a caffeinated tea every morning and am fine. But never feel bad about calling your doctor to ask. Sometimes they might have dietary suggestions that could help the headaches and help you aviod medication.
