Spoke to my OBGYN...
I told him how I got the positive OPK on CD19 and 20 and then got AF on CD28... he wasnt concerned AT ALL. He said I'm totally fine and to just keep trying and not to worry. I was like .... are you sure?? I thought under 10 days was a defect... he was like... YOU ARE FINE. So I believe him. So I guess we'll just try everything we can this month and hope for the best!!

unfortunately, they tell you on the box - the earlier you test for pregnancy - the chances for accuracy are smaller and smaller - the farther you are out....
best of luck - if the doc isn't worried - then i wouldn't be either!

That is a VERY short luteal phase and is NOT normal. If you got a +OPK on CD19, then chances are you ovulated on CD21, that's only a 7 day LP. Implantation usually does not occur until at least 7dpo. I would seek a second opinion.

I'm sorry I do not like what he said. That is NOT normal and you should print off something maybe from Online that says that and ask him.
Anything under 10 days and have virtually no chance of getting PG...
If this continues, this next cycle. I would not let it go.

Cycles can fluctuate due to so many variables from month to month. I think its a bit soon for anyone to diagnose a LP defect. Try another month or 2 and if the same thing happens- then push for more information.
I highly recommend charting- then you'll have hard data that can back up a claim of LP defect.

Yes, cycles can fluctuate - but your LP usually stays the same regardless of your cycle length.
I've had 28 day cycles and 40 day cycles, and my LP has never been shorter than 13 days.
I don't think it's a bad idea to have her get a second opinion.
Charting is a great idea too - but this might be something as simple as a progesterone deficiency that she can have treated.

I think I'll call one of the other dr's in the practice tomorrow "the head one" and see what he has to say... then I'm gonna chart/use opk's this month and see what happens... oh yea, and then I"M GONNA TAKE SOME VALIUM CAUSE IF I DONT STOP STRESSING ABOUT THIS I WILL NEVER GET PREGNANT!

The problem is that the entire concept of a luteal phase defect is a controversial one. There are many doctors who do not believe it really interferes with pregnancy. The definitive test to determine if you have a LP defect is an endometrial biopsy.

I honestly don't know.
The only other thing I'm thinking is that if you had PCOS - you could get inaccurate OPK results.
In my first cycle using OPKs - I always just considered it a fluke because I got a +OPK on CD 17, then didn't get AF until 22 days later... and I don't have a 21 day LP.
So - I know I totally just contradicted myself, but maybe this cycle could just be a fluke. I honestly don't know sweetie!

FUnny you mention PCOS... cause I have been known to get cysts on my ovaries... the ones that disolve with my period,... and honestly, I could have sworn I was getting that pain this month... hmmm...food for thought

What I meant was that this is her 2nd cycle trying- just using OPKs as a guide. And we all know that OPKs only tell us if there is a surge- and does not to confirm O. This may have been a fluke cycle. There is no pattern of irregularity yet.
That may be why her dr. is not jumping to do testing or prescribing creams. Frankly I'd be wary of a doctor who would jump to that so quickly, especially in a woman who has already had a successful pregnancy.
To the OP- (and for everyone here) mucho and hopefully a successful next cycle....
