is it true that splenda...
can cause infertility??
I read this somewhere, and now I am freaking out. I drink it every morning in my coffee, and am always eating things with splenda. I just stopped putting it in my coffee last week.

I drank a ton of tea with it when TTC with DD and had no problem.

Re: is it true that splenda...
I don't know about splenda causing infertility but most practitoiners and ACOG (American College of Obstetrics and Gynegology) recomend that you do not use artificail sweeteners during pregnancy especially in the first and second trimesters because it can cause birth defects. I think for those diagnosed with GD (gestational diabetes) use can use them during the late second/ third trimester because all major organs and systems are already developed and the baby is just grwoing at that point.
I woudl suggest you call your practitioner and see what their view is on this.
I know my midwife told me to stay away from all artificial sweeteners while TTC and for the pregnancy.

I do agree with Blissful. I cut out all artificial sweetners after getting pregnant.

Re: is it true that splenda...
i have been recently been discussing aspartime with my friend who has completely cut it out of her diet. here are a few things she sent me.
If you’re interested:
Aspartame short
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OT-OKs09oaU
Sweet Misery - A Poisoned World, a documentary about aspartame
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-566922170441334340
The World According to Monsanto, a French documentary about the GM crop giant
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6262083407501596844
Now if you want to get more into "conspiracy"
Zeitgeist - a must see. If you can make it past the part about religion(part I), the film asks some interesting questions about 9-11(Part II), then the N.W.O.(Part III)
http://zeitgeistmovie.com/
also, David Icke's 7 hour lecture at the Brixton Academy. You see a clip of this talk in the aspartame short above. This guy has been researching this stuff for years. Government conspiracy, illuminati, symbolism. In this lecture he attempts to connect the dots. Most of it is way out there, but if any of it is true, very scary.
part I
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9071552653060547368
part II
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8975490703215161452
part III
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-705327626363291322
plenty more where these came from,

Re: is it true that splenda...
Thank you for posting this, it makes me feel pretty good about it :
Sucralose: (Splenda) This is non-caloric sweetener that is made from sugar. Sucralose has been approved for use in baked goods, baking mixes, non-alcoholic beverages, chewing gum, coffee and tea products, confections and frostings, fats and oils, frozen dairy desserts and mixes, fruit juices, sugar substitutes, sweet sauces, toppings and syrups. It can also be used as “table-top sweetener.” Sucralose has no effect on blood sugar, offers no calories, and is deemed safe during pregnancy and lactation. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), sucralose is safe for everyone to consume, including pregnant women

Splenda is not an artificial sweetener, its a derivative of sugar.

Yep and I used it all the time before I was pregnant and all throughout my pregnancy as well and everything is perfectly fine with Emerson. It's safe to use, I wouldn't worry.
