Dead animals in the road
Am I the only one that full-on CRIES when you see this?
We were out for a drive this morning and I didn't look away in time. It was a cat.
I cried, and I mean really CRIED, for the next 20 minutes.
I can't even blame it on the pregnancy--it gets to me no matter what.

Re: Dead animals in the road
I get upset also. I know people can't get out of the way sometimes but I am really bad. I will slam on my breaks so I won't hit an animal. It doesn't matter what it is and I have to wait to go until I acutally see the animal. People driving behind me hate me when that happens but I don't care because I also get really upset seeing that.

Re: Dead animals in the road
I feel terrible if I see a raccoon or a squirrel - but forget it if it's a cat or god forbid, a dog...that really gets to me.

You're not alone. I cry as well...and I always try to call the highway department to take these poor animals off of the road.

Re: Dead animals in the road
I have to turn away most times. I just can't look, I get too upset....esp ever I was in traffic on the GCP and a dead cat was on the shoulder. I watched as a woman in her car behind my car got out to go look at the cat. I will never forget what I saw...she went to turn the cat and it was stiff as a board from rigormortis (sp?). It was the saddest sight I have ever seen.

If there's a dead possum, I've been known to make my DH pull over, get out of the car, and check the pouch for babies. Usually, there are babies, but most of the time they also dead

Re: Dead animals in the road
I get teary and sad...and I say a prayer to St.Francis I hope that they did not suffer. And I picture their soul going into another animal..like a newborn deer etc. I know I'm a little wacky!

Sometimes the babies are not dead and can be saved, so it's not always bad.

OMG, never crossed my mind. Road kill makes me extremely upset, always has. I have a special prayer that I say for them.

Re: Dead animals in the road
It always makes me really sad, even if it's a wild animal. I just feel so bad for them because they don't know any better.
I work on the road and it's hard because I see this while I'm driving around. It's awful.
