Re: question
I did- I didn't want things that I didn't need and couldn't return- I still got a few- but I got alot off my registry
people who buy gifts are going to buy gifts- it better to make it something you want
and people who give $$- give $$ regardless

Agreed. We didn't really have an engagement party-just a casual get together at FIL's house with our friends and our parents. My mom kept bothering us about registering almost immediately after we got engaged. I'm glad we did b/c even though we didn't really have an engagement party, a lot of people gave us engagement gifts. IMO, it's better to register and get gifts you want.

Re: question
we didn't, b/c it was still over 2 years before our wedding and we had no place to put anything. people still gave us gifts, mostly picture frames.

Re: question
I actually probably wouldnt do a minimal registry list. The reason why is that like someone above said people who give $ will always give $, people who give gifts will give gifts. I think if she doesnt register enough she "might" see alot of gifts that will not be useful to her in her future even if she doesnt have a home yet. I think I got all gifts, no one sent me $ which was great because we needed everything we received.
