Re: Enemas
no, never. I am afraid of getting one before L & D. Do they give you one as a matter of course?

No. They are not given as a matter of course. But they are supposed to help with a certain fear of mine about the L&D. SO I was considering it, but I don't really know what it is...

Re: Enemas
I did. I didn't want to at first, but it did help w/ the pressure from contractions, you know, being "empty" and all. It wasn't the most comfortable feeling, but it was over quickly. I wound up w/ a C- Section anyway, so didn't have to worry about the pushing/pooping incident.

Re: Enemas
Nope, I didn't have one and didn't poop the table.
But it's really common to poop the table, since that's how the nurse told me to push, like I was having a BM. I'm told they don't even bat an eye, they are cleaning up all the other stuff that's coming out (gross I know) that it doesn't phase them.

Re: Enemas
It was planned but there was no time for me. I barely got on the table before she came out.

Re: Enemas
My Lamaze DVD said to get the Fleet one and use is before you leave for the hospital for an almost guaranteed "poop free" experience. I picked it up lastnight and plan on using it. Oh she also said it helps labor because you don't have a full bowel pressing against the birth canal...........

Re: Enemas
This time last year I was severly constipated to point where I was vomiting and had a fever and it was either giving myself and enema or going to the hospital. I opted for the enema and it wasn't bad at all. I used a minela oil one, the nozzleis lubicated so you dont feel it go in and you also dont feel the fluid going in. When you stop squizing the bottle and stand up within seconds you are on the bowl. I think I might be doing the same before delivery.
