acupuncture?
Has anyone tried it in conjunction with IVF? When did you start? How "quickly" do they say the results will be seen?
Where do you go?
MY RE's office has info from Art of Acupuncture in Williston Park. Anyone been there?
How much is your typical session?
TIA!

Re: acupuncture?
I have been using acupuncture with IUI...I have been successful 2x, but lost the pregnancies, haivng nothing to do with not having acupuncutre, just bad luck. If I do not get BFP this week, we are moving onto IVF and will do acupunture with it. It is supposed to increase the chances of a BFP alot, I don't know how old you are, it depends on your age and other IF issues you may have.
Ipay $60 and it's well worth it. I am never more relaxed than when I leave acupuncture and I can feel my body differently.
good luck!

I have been doing it since I started IVF... you are supposed to go before you start, but I did it as soon as I started my BCP's.
I go to Art of Acupuncture, and Alex is GREAT... she is really a nice girl, and specializes in IVF.
I saw results pretty quickly, I was getting very hot from the lupron, but after my 2nd session I didn't get ANY more heat flashes! I usually go 1 to 2 times a week depending on what I am doing that week.
It is about $125 for this first consultation which you will get a consult and a full acupuncture session... every session after that is around $85 for me... its different depending on if you have insurance etc...
Good Luck!

Re: acupuncture?
I am not getting an IUI or IVF yet but I just wanted to start due to IF issues. I like it and it makes me more relaxed afterwards. I don't go to the place in Williston Park I go somewhere else.
I don't know if it has helped with my IF problems yet. I also get a discount due to my insurance.

Re: acupuncture?
To compare
I did two IVF cycles, my first one without acupuncture.
#1 - I had 6 eggs, 5 fertlized (with ICSI), 3 made it to a day 3 transfer, none to freeze.
#2 - 18 eggs, 14 fertilized (with ICSI), 10 made it to ta day 3 transfer, 3 transferred back, 6 made it to freeze.
My protocol only slightly changed, it was not much different than my 1st. Also, I only stimmed for 9 days my 2nd IVF whereas my first IVF I stimmed for 13 days.
I do believe the acupuncture played a huge role. Also, my two cycles were back to back.
I started treatments beginning the week before I started to stim. During my stim cycle, I went twice per week. Then the day before my transfer and immediately following my transfer. Did not go during the 2WW, but continued after I got a BFP up until 8 weeks when the RE released me.

Re: acupuncture?
I started accupuncture about a month before my IVF and continued through my BFP. I also did yoga and meditated twice daily. All of these helped me stay relaxed. I paid $65 per session at LI Holistic.

Re: acupuncture?
I used acupuncture both times with ivf (unfortunately I miscarried with the first pregnancy). I started going a few weeks before the injections. The day of the transfer, I had a session before the procedure and directly afterwards. Each session cost about $90. I also found the acupuncture to be helpful with my anxiety re: ivf.

Re: acupuncture?
I go to LI Holistic. They charged me $95 for the initial consult and $65 each session b/c I have UHC. They don't take UHC but they give a discount for certain insurances.
I go to the Babylon office but I think they also have an office in Lake Success. They claim to have a 60% success rate with IVF patients. It didn't work for me last time (I was part of the 40% ) but I'm doing it again b/c it really helps relax me.
I did acupuncture with my very first IVF cycle (out of state) and had success so right now my personal success rate is 50%!
ETA - Lizell Stover, who used to work at LI Holsitic started her own practice in Huntington in case that is closer for you. You can google her name for her office info if you are interested.
