How do you know its Sciatica?

My back is killing me but only on one side. Is it Sciatica and is there anything I can do about it?

It would only be sciatica if it shoots down your leg and makes it difficult to stand/sit/walk.

ETA: If it's concentrated in your back, I would try 1/2 hour on a heating pad or an ice pack.

Sciatica can come from 2 origins

1/ disk issue (not much you can do about this except watch your posture)

2/ muscular issue. Everything is moving and tilting to make room for baby. Massage is best.

I was having lower back pan and sciatica pain (shooting pain on my left side that got worse with movement.

I finally went and saw a chiropractor recomended by my midwife and I have two bulging disks which are causing the lower back pain and that is causing one of the muscles to spasm and therfore giving me the sciatica pain.

i've had 3 sessions so far and it has gotten much better but its going to take a few more weeks.

Thanks for explaining. The pain is definately stabbing down my leg and making it difficult to walk, bend over, lift things etc. I am going to try massage first and see how it goes. Thanks!

I know exactly what you are going through. I hope the chiropractic works for you. Unfortunately, this time my disc basically exploded and no amount of chiropractic will fix it.
