travel systems?

I am registering tomorrow and have been advised against travel systems. Our original plan was to get one, but now I am having second thoughts. Please share your experiences/ opinions on them. Thanks!

Re: travel systems?

You will have to test them out yourselves.

My friend got one and loves it.

DH, Mom and I tested them out and I just couldnt imagine lifting that large load and carrying it around.

we decided to go with the snap and go, it seems like the easiest and it had a big basket!

Re: travel systems?

If I had it to do over I would not have gotten a travel system. I definitely would have gone with the snap-n-go.

It was bulky and does not control very well. I prefer my jogging stroller actually, and I was able to put the infant seat in there as well.

Re: travel systems?

I have a travel system and love it. I will be using the same one for this baby that I used for DS.

Re: travel systems?

When I looked for DD I opted not to get the travel system. I find people either love them or hate them. I highly recommend going and trying them out in the store.

I got a snap n go and the zippy by inglesina. I used the snap n go for quick errands, restaurants, or times when I went out and DD was sleeping. I used the inglesina for walks in the neighborhood, longer trips, larger trips to the mall etc. I didn't use the car seat with the zippy - I put her directly in it.

The advantage of the snap n go is that you don't have to lug a heavy stroller in and out of the car for quick errands and it takes up less room than the regular stroller in your car which can be helpful when doing shopping that you need trunk space.

But having said that - it is nice you have 1 stroller - and don't have to switch them around or leave 2 in your car. You have the option of putting the baby directly in the one stroller or leaving them in the car seat.

Re: travel systems?

I loved mine. I used it until DS was 14 months (the stroller). I got the Graco passage. It was light weight with a huge basket.

I bought a jogger stroller for outtings this summer like picnic on grass, etc.. . I still use the other stroller for everyday use.

Re: travel systems?

I think it depends on the person. I usually hear that some people love them or hate them. You need to see how well it fits into your lifestyle.

Re: travel systems?

After much research, I decided against them. THey are just too heavy.

Instead I got a lightweight stroller, an infant carrier seperately and a snap and go stroller for the infant car seat. Considering the snap and gos are only around $60, I think it's worth it to have so much less bulk and weight just to travel around with an infant.

Re: travel systems?

I'm not a fan of the Graco travel systems. They are just so heavy and hard to fold. There are plenty of other options. You can still get a travel system, but with a light weight stroller. This is what I'm doing!! I'm also getting a snap and Go.

I have the Graco Snugride with the Snap 'n Go. I love it, so much less bulky then a travel system.

I have the Chicco Cortina Travel System and I LOVE it!!! It's so easy to fold down and set up, it's lightweight, it's pretty compact, easy to steer with one hand, and Emerson likes it too.......she's very comfy. I think it's so easy having the travel system. I am happy with my choice. Chat Icon

Re: travel systems?

I have a Graco travel system, and love it!

I also had the Snap N Go which I loved as well.

I used the Snap N Go when I was running a crazy amount of errands, and was in and out of the car, but when I was taking her on walks, or was walking a good distance, the Graco stroller was amazing.... she would go over all kinds of bumps and dips in that thing and never wake up.... not so much with the snap n go.

I have the same and I LOVE IT too! I also have a snap and go base that I use sometimes with the car seat. The travel system stroller is great for the baby without the carseat too. It reclines completely, sits up, and has many positions in-between. Ohter stroller I tested do not have as many positions. I also love how the shade cover can be moved. Many other strollers have the shade cover attached at the top end. AND the best part is the handle is adjustable so my 6'3' DH doesnt have to bend over while pushing the stroller. I am really happy with my decision.

Re: travel systems?

the travel systems were not for me. i'm tiny and didn't want anything too heavy so i got the car seat stroller frame to start. for walks around the neighborhood i think a jogger or an "all terrain" stroller is best, and with DD#1 i did tons of walking outside so i bought an instep safari.

for trips to the mall/stores i got the maclaren quest that has a permanent place in the trunk of my car. i wanted lightweight and small, didn't and still don't really care about snack trays...

Re: travel systems?

I t is so confusing! We registered for a Graco one that I am not entirely obsessed with, mostly bc the Graco ones seem to be easier than the Chiccos in terms of the Snap and Go frame and all. The one that goes with the Chicco carseats seems annoying.

Re: travel systems?

We had originally registered for a Graco Quattro travel system, but at over 30 lbs. we realized what a pain in the a** it would be.

We returned it and got a Metrolite instead. Much lighter--I think it's 15 lbs. We also have the Snap N Go for me, since I have back issues.
