Is it possible....
to have a 29 day cycle and surge on day 21? I ask because I just did an OPK and saw the darkest line that I have ever seen since I have been using these. The line is maybe the slightest bit lighter then the control line. Last month I didn't see anything but I stopped testing at day 20. What do you think?

Yes, but that would make your 29 day cycle longer this month. The line still needs to be as dark if not darker than the control line for it to be a surge. So if you surge today, chances are you'll ovulate tomorrow sometime (CD22) CD23 would be 1dpo, provided you have a 14 day LP (time between ovulation and your period), then you could expect to get your period on or about CD 37

Yeah but I have never had a 37 day cycle. Usually 29. The most it has been is 30 and the least is 27days. So does that mean it is not possible?

But that doesn't mean that you can't.
the norm is that your period comes 14 days after ovulation. So if you do not ovulate this month until CD22, then your cycle should be 37 days.
Is this your first month using OPKs? If not, when have you seen a surge in the past?
If you are Oing on CD23 and you still get your period on CD29, I would be running to talk to your doctor because there is no way you'd be able to get and/or stay pregnant with an LP that short.

have you ever confirmed O day (using OPKs or charting) with a 29 day cycle?
CD22 is very late to O for a 29 day cycle. i would keep testing until you are SURE you got your surge, estimate your O day and then see when AF arrives. your LP (time between O and AF) needs to be at least 10 days to get pregnant.
many things can effect your cycle length from month to month - stress is a big factor. it can cause you to O earlier or later than usual, which will then cause your cycle to be longer or shorter.
ETA: I would recommend you use the digital OPKs next month. I know they are more expensive but they are SO much easier to use. Circle for no surge, smiley face for surge. HTH

Just to let you know. I double checked with cbe digital and got a smiley. Today is cd21. I used OPKs last month but didnt' get a surge. But I only tested until CD 19. So I guess it could have happened after. But from other posts, that would not be good if my cycle is 29 days. I guess I will have to wait and see when AF comes and I will cross that bridge at that time. Thanks!

When I got preggo with DS, I was on a consistent 28-30 cycle and got my surge on day 18, so it's definitely possible you're a late ovulator. I thought I was too (because I know I was with DS) but I just got a postive OPK at day 14 after a very long cycle. So who knows, things can obviously be very different from month to month.
