had the HSG
I went to Zilkha radiology in W Islip- there was a little bit of a wait and the staff was very nice as was Dr. Zilkha. They explained everything, walked me through the procedure, made some fun chit-chat, and gave me my results right away (and let me what the "tv").
I really didn't expect any pain- but was supriised that it hurt quite a bit! I've had no lasting pain once they too the cathater and balloon out.
Fortunately- everything is clear!
Unfortunately, I gave myself an ulcer (at least, from what I remember what ulcer pain feels like- I think that's what it is...)
I'm sure it was from taking the 4 advil and the dose of antibiotics on an empty stomach (b/c you need to fast for 4 hours prior to HSG).
I'm pretty convinved this burned a whole in my stomach.
annoying!
So, so far no idea why I'm having trouble conceiving....

I've never heard of having to fast before an HSG

What testing have you had done? What are your next steps?

You know- I have no idea what my next steps are..
so far I had baseline sonogram
tons of blood work (insulin, etc)
SA for DH
I am not sure what IS next....
also- I swore I had a blockage b/c I have quite a bit of ovulation pain ever since i had DD via c-section- i thought i'd have adhesions..
but nothing- so I'm totally

Okay so you did all of your Cd 3 bloodwork?
That's great so far.
How long have you been TTC? Are you seeing an RE?

actually no, bloodwork wasn't on CD3... it was just done whenever to get baseline I think? Actually, looking at my calendar, I had the bloodwork done at the end of my cycle.
I have no idea... it was my first time going to this specific doctor- she isn't a RE but a ob/gyn that does some infertility as well.... so she basically did a ton of bloodwork and the baseline sonogram right then and there.
I figured I would start with her b/c honestly I don't have great medical coverage and see where it took me.
I haven't been on birth control since having DD in 10/06 and have been actively TTC for about 9 months now.
I got preg with DD on 2nd month using clomid- had a lot of anovulatory cycles w/ her (charted, etc).
Now, my cycles are relatively "regular" and ovulator.
I have EWCM which I never had before.
I have had so much testing just to figure out the cause of the bad ovulation cramping- i had a cat-scan, sonograms (internal/external) and now a HSG- no idea what is happening.

I would definitely go for CD 3 testing then. That could be a good next step.
Have you spoken to your insurance company and gotten a printout of your exact coverage? I did, and it was very helpful.
Also, I needed a referral to see an RE - but you may or may not. You should check that out too.
Are you over 35? If so, then getting a referral to an RE should be no problem.

I don't need a referral. I spoke with the indurance company- what I am covered for is diagnosis of infertility/all testing... then lifetime allowance $5k- which is nothing really I guess.
I don't have a plan where I need referrals.
I am 33...but I guess b/c I haven't been on any birth control for 2 years practically that is cause.
I just left a message for my doc asking her what I"m supposed to do now.

$5k is not bad! That will cover you for a few IUIs and maybe a few cycles of Clomid or Injectables if needed. That $5k is after diagnosis, right?
In your case, I'd probably go straight to an RE. They are the fertility specialists and they are much more knowledgeable and have different standards when it comes to infertility testing and treatment.
I started off with my ob/gyn who ordered SA, CD 3 b/w, and HSG - but when I went to the RE, I got much more information and found that his standards for what were "normal" differed greatly from my ob/gyn's.

Thanks. Yes, the 5k is after diagnosis.
I know I should probably go right to the RE but I have a sort of block- like I'm not really sure if I want to go down that road.... actually, I think my regular OB/GYN has a RE she works with and might refer me.. we'll see what she says.
i'm so torn as to what I should do. I don't know if I am fully prepared to go down this road and am still sort of in denial that I'm having a hard time after it being so "easy" with DD (actually, it was anything but- 10 months total w/ the 2 clomid cycles)
