cord blood banking...

i didnt even think we would consider it, because of the expense (and i do hate to even say that, but its very realistic right now, as things are SO tight)
But my husband and i started really talking about it..my history is insane, ive already been through cancer at 28, my mother has had it 3 times, we grew up in a cancer cluster (and she still lives there, and my son spent the first few years of his life in that neighborhood) I went to junior high with at LEAST 3 people who have had lymphoma or have actually passed away from it :( i know 2 people in that area who have had stem cell surgery..basically, if ANYONE should do this,...it would be me..

i have a few questions maybe someone can answer before i bring it up to the dr...

what is the percentage that this babys cord blood would also be a close enough match for my son, or my dh or i...

and

how many times can it be used? Is it like a one time thing? Like if God forbid my DS got sick and was able to use it, and then my Chat Icon got sick a few years later (theyre 10 years apart, hence the concern) would there be enough of her OWN cells for her left?

maybe these sound stupid, but im just wondering...
TIA!!

Why don't you call CBR and ask these questions? They are very helpful. Just a suggestion, since I don't know the answers.

I'd also love to find out from outside ppl as well, I think calling CBR would be great, but they are also in buisness to make some money so I would love to get questions from ppl that may know more and aren't making a profit off of it...
Sorry to be the pessimist of the group Chat Icon
