Telling gyno going to an RE...
Although my gyno is awesome, I don't want to waste time seeing him for my infertility issues since we have TTC for 1 year already and if in the end I may have to see an RE anyways...
How have you told your gyno you are going to see an RE? Do they then send a copy of your chart to the RE office?

Re: Telling gyno going to an RE...
My gyno was going to refer me to the RE, but after our 2nd failed clomid/IUI attempt with her, we decided to jump the gun and move ahead. I never told her, just called the medical records area and asked for a copy of my records to be sent to the RE after I had made the RE appointment.
ETA: It's really no big deal. It's not like you are leaving your OB forever. Once you are pregnant, the RE will discharge you by 8 weeks, so you'd be going back to your Dr. eventually anyway.

It shouldn't be a big deal IMO.
Our ob/gyn referred us to the RE. Do you need a referral for your insurance company? If so, just ask the ob/gyn. If you've bee trying for a year it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Telling gyno going to an RE...
My gyno wanted me to try for a year but after 6 months I went to a RE. I didn't even tell my gyno what I was doing.

Re: Telling gyno going to an RE...
Thanks. I was getting worried about it! lol I definitely plan on going back to my gyno but didn't know if it would be a big deal or not if I don't see him for my infertility issues..
I didn't know I may need a referral for the RE. I will call the insurance co. Thanks!

Yeah, it all depends on your insurance company and plan.
I needed a referral, while my very good friend did not.
If you have been trying for a year though, getting a referral should not be a problem.
Have you spoken to your ob/gyn about your efforts in TTC thus far? Have you had any testing done?

Re: Telling gyno going to an RE...
My ob/gyn thought that I had PCOS and a uterine polyp. She wanted me to go for a water sonogram to confirm the polyp. I had a lot of issues with my ob/gyn and her office and she got a little snippy with me when I told her that I was going straight to the RE for those issues. However, I think she was going to wind up referring me to one anyway.

Re: Telling gyno going to an RE...
My gyno recommended me to my first RE after she sent me for an HSG and it showed possible blockage and scar tissue. They did get annoyed with me that I started with a new one, but that was more the lazy nurse I spoke to on the phone than my Doc. I have since made sure our insurance doesn't need a referral (so annoying).

He told me to wait the full year (we did) and for DH to get an SA done (results were good). Haven't done anything else besides that...
AF just showed up this afternoon so I guess the next step is calling ins. co, setting up RE appt and taking it from there...
