temping question
Hi everyone,
I have been trying to temp for the first time this month. I generally wake up and temp around 6am. Sometimes I wake up at 530-545 (before my alarm goes off). I just doze with my eyes closed. I dont really move. I have still been taking my temps at 6. Should I be taking them the minute I get wake up, even if it is not 6am? Could waiting until 6 (even though I am dozing) have thrown off my chart?
I got two + OPK's this weekend (Sat/Sun). I dont know much about charting yet, but FF hasnt set an O date. Thanks!!

Re: temping question
What do you mean by "dozing?"
Based on the temps you have on your chart, I don't see a clear thermal shift to indicate ovulation.
It's important that you take your temp as soon as you wake up! The whole thing about BBT is that it's your waking temperature before doing anything else (taking a sip of water, talking, using the bathroom) and even slight changes can affect that. You do have some leeway with your timing, so if you're only getting up 15 minutes before - DEFINITELY take your temp then since it will still be accurate.

Re: temping question
First off, it does get easier so hang in there
Are you using the OPKs starting from cycle day 10? I notice you had a few negatives, some blanks and then 2 positives. I am surprised you did not get a temp spike after your +OPKs. Usually a + means you will O within the next day or two.
As maybeamommy mentioned, it is very important to take your temp at the same time every morning before you get out of bed. Up to 30 min before or after is okay. So if you wake at 530, take your temp then.
Did you just come off BCP or other type of BC? That can affect your cycle for months and you may not see as clear a temp pattern. Keep up with it and within a few months, you will see definite spikes and drops, indicating when you ovulated and when AF will be arriving.

Re: temping question
By dozing I mean that I wake up before my alarm, about 530-545 and I look at my clock, but just close my eyes and go into a "half-sleep" if that makes any sense. I dont get up or anything bc I know that effects the temp. So I should take it as soon as I wake, no matter if it isnt 6am?
I am coming off BC. I started the OPK's around cycle day 13. They all came up negative. I didnt even enter all the negative ones. Then, I gave up. After posting, someone told me not to give up and that I was probably Oing late, so I said "what the hell" and gave one of my last two a try. Surprisingly, it was positive. I took my last one on Sunday too and that was positive.
So, do I go by the OPK or the temp? Do I figured that I O'd on Sunday night or Monday? Is there nothing in my chart that indicates that I may have O'd?
Im so confused, Im sorry!

Re: temping question
Yes, take your temp when you wake up even if it's not 6 am. But try to be as close to 6 as possible.
I would use your O date based on the OPKs. They detect the surge so I think those will be more accurate than the temps. A +OPK means you will O in the next 24-48 hours so it sounds like you Oed sometime Monday.
As you chart more, you will definitely notice a pattern that coincides with the CM and OPKs and it will all make sense. Well, as much sense as it can! good luck!
ETA: Just an FYI, I haven't used FF in a while, but I am pretty sure they don't show your O date until you've had at least 5 temps above your coverline. SO if you O on Monday, it won't show up that you Oed on Monday until you enter your temps through Sat. HTH

It's actually 3 temps - but still, I don't see any temperature shift at all in her chart.
Were the OPKs definitely positive?

Re: temping question
The OPK's were def positive. The surge line came up before the control line and was obviously darker. I even had DH look at them to make sure I wasnt seeing things. I guess Ill just have to wait and see what happens

Okay, then as Blue mentioned, go with your OPK for now. You can manually enter in your O date or change the way FF calculates it by looking under your chart and going to Ovulation Detector, then Tuning/Override.
Your temps might be inaccurate due to the dozing.
