An honest poll...
Please answer this poll - I am honestly just curious as to what kinds of responses people are looking for when they post here on TTC.
I know that I tend to take my personal experiences combined with my knowledge of TTC as well as my experiences from being here on the boards for 14 months into consideration when I respond to anyone's posts. I try to give the person a "real" answer - a mix between not giving false hope, but not being negative either.
I have learned so much from being on here - and I have suffered a lot too. I know the feelings of excitedness, anticipation, anxiety, worry, and disappointment. I've felt defeated and been brought back up. I've gotten doses of harsh reality. I've gotten words of encouragement.
My question is, what kinds of responses are you typically looking for when you post here?

Re: An honest poll...
come on - you gave me the BIRD option and now i had to pick it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In all honesty - for me - i was looking for honest advice - put in a real way. I'm a believer in thinking negatively and letting the good news surprise me....as opposed to thinking flowers & ice cream all the time, only to be let down.
When i GIVE advice - i try to be honest and real... I try not to sugar-coat - because the harsh reality will hurt THAT much more...

Re: An honest poll...
I voted for Bird.
I want an honest opinion on all things. If you think I'm out, tell me. Don't crush my feelings but just tell me honestly.

Re: An honest poll...
I want people to be real.....but nicely. I don't need to be insulted, I don't need anyone talking down to me, but I want real answers. One of the reasons I love the TTC board is because it seems like people ARE real on here and nice at the same time. Some of the other boards I find to be really harsh. I don't need to be verbally b i t c h slapped for having a different opinion. I respect everyone's opinion and although I may not agree with it I know how to agree to disagree. Everyone on this board has been so sweet and it seems like you generally care. The whole reason for posting questions etc (IMO) is to get other peoples views and then make the decisions for yourself, but you can't do that if people are just telling you what they think you want to hear.

Re: An honest poll...
i am always one to give encouragement and while not getting their hopes up but to not let them feel upset or down about my opinion.... so usually i try to be a positive person answering people's questions and always give encouraging answers
i feel that if girls get a BFN, they will be hurt and uspet either way... thats just my opinion!

Re: An honest poll...
I come on here looking for experienced honest opinions with a sprinkle of sugar!! In normal life I dont need sugar coating but this TTC business is tough enough as it is so as long as the advice is doled out with a llittle empathy even if its not what I want to hear then I am fine.

Re: An honest poll...
I put honest opinions whether positive or negative. I feel personally that I'd rather get the real answer even if it's not what I want to hear. I'm not saying be rude. Sometimes another persons perspective is just what i need

Re: An honest poll...
I am kindof a mix, I don't want everything to be sugar-coated all the time and sometimes you need a reality check to get your mind back in line and also don't want to be made to feel stupid about this whole confusing process and sometimes positive responses are nice since they give a person a glimmer of hopefullness. I think that sometimes the longer the process takes the more "jaded" a person may become (not talking about anyone in general, just my own personal feelings about my road so far) and it is hard to always keep that sunshiney attitude towards TTC.

Re: An honest poll...
This is a good poll! This is the first time for a lot of us to be in the TTC situation and we have no idea what to expect. I appreciate everyone's input, just because something is honest doesn't make it negative. We're all here because we all have that same wish in our hearts it's good to have honest feedback!

Re: An honest poll...
I appreciate honesty, that being said, there are many types. There is sappy honesty(no thank you), blind honesty(no thanks agin), hard honesty(no thanks), and just plain this is how I feel objectivity. I prefer the objective real stance. I know when I posted questions I wanted the truth, but after 10 semi down truths it was nice to hear a semi uplifting truth. I appreciate the honesty, but sometimes having somebody say....there's still a chance is what you need. I love all of you and respect you all because everybody brings something new to the table, and along with that you are able to have many points of view.

Re: An honest poll...
Real opinions- in a nice way. I see a lot of "I'm spotting, what does that mean?" posts, and a lot of, "Implantation spotting!" false hope replies. Implantation spotting does occur, but not nearly as often as it's suggested. I'd prefer a real opinion, instead of false hope all the time.

I guess the poll has me in general. When I post - it's because I know there are so many different women on here with so many different experiences. I am glad that there are some who will tend to be positive and some who will remind me how difficult ttc really is. I want all of the diverse opinions on here and wouldn't want someone to tailor there personality to suit me. I guess I haven't been on here long enough to really understand the need for the poll or the post that was pulled before. Do people really get upset that there are so many different people/personalities here? I didn't answer the poll because I want ALL the responses.

Re: An honest poll...
I'm simply looking for the truth... whether it hurts or not. Obviously I don't want to feel belittled or derided... but, I do want to know that maybe what I am saying/thinking/doing is not realistic and is only causing more harm than good - or vice versa.
Even though some people on here don't hang with each other (present company included) - it's still comforting to know that there are people that care enough to be honest and could quite possibly be called a "friend" - even if the extent of the friendship doesn't go further than these forum "walls".
Yeah, I've gotten responses that have taken me off guard - but only because of how I was feeling at the moment - and when I go back to them and re-read them, I see the truthfulness and sincerity in all of your posts... And that reassures me to know that I have someone to go to when I am concerned or just need to be given a boost of confidence or a "huggy" (or smacked upside the head - mental picture of Cher smacking Nicolas Cage in "Moonstruck" - "Snap out of it!!" )
So, I guess what I'm tryin' to say is... I love you guys!
OH G-D!! I said the "L" word... was it too soon??? It was too soon wasn't it!? Oh no... now it's gonna get weird...

Re: An honest poll...
I said a good dose of reality. I am a very direct person, so I prefer when people give me honest answers based on medical knowledge and personal experience.
By being on this board, I realize that there are times that I really benefit from everyones encouragement, and I do my best to give the same back.
