new here with question
I just had my first iui and my dr said that I already ovulated. I got my surge yest.am and they told me to come in this morning. Dr Rosenfeld said it was perfect timing even though I ovulated but how?Isn't it too late? Have any of you gotten pregnant with an iui after ovulation? Thanks.

Re: new here with question
Welcome! I hope your stay here is short.
I remember asking my doctor something like this. I asked her how long the egg is good for once its released and she told me about 24 hours. You're timing sounds right on target....once you get the surge you're supposed to go in for the IUI the next day which is what you did so I think you're fine.

Re: new here with question
I had my IUI this morning, too!!! We'll suffer through this 2ww together!
My dr does my iui's with a trigger shot. I went in this am and had the iui, but the eggs had not released yet. so i go back in again tomorrow for another one.
so, to me, you're fine because the egg will float around for a day or so and the sperm were placed right where they need to be!
Good Luck to you!!!

Re: new here with question
Its actually great timing...your egg needs time to come down your fallopian tube, so you getting a surge yesterday morning means you will ovulate within 24-36 hours of that surge.
Lots of luck and I hope your stay is short!

Re: new here with question
Thanks guys! Im just really down because he kept telling me that because of me fsh ivf is the route I should be looking at. My original fsh was 11.5 then I was put on synthroid and it was down to 8. He just did a repeat and it was back up to 11.5. Why does it fluctuate so much? He said that number worries him because I am only 29 and I should not waste time and just do IVF. I was so hopeful this morning...

First off, the timing of your IUI is fine. Secondly, some ladies have success with accupuncture and wheatgrass juice to lower FSH. It definitely can fluctuate. If you have the financial means or insurance coverage for IVF you should seriously consider it. It's not as scary as you might think. I wasted almost a year trying other IF treatments before finally going for IVF and it worked the first try!
