Question about antibiotics & ovulating

Hi Ladies, I have a quick question. I'm sortof new to this sight, but I know you ladies have more experience with all of this then I do. This is the first month that I bought one of thsoe ovulation tests (7 tests from first response) & I was supposed to have my first day already but nothing has been showing up. Could this be because I've been sick and I got antibiotics from my md? Also from what I heard you shouldnt ttc while on any type of medication, correct?

TIA

with regards to the medication part - that is a medical question that you should ask your doc or pharmacist. A lot of medications are perfectly fine while TTC'ing...but some aren't. It entirely depends...

In speaking to my pharmacist about it (i go to the same place and have for years now - so she knows me) - she said no matter what i pick up from her - to ask her to make sure it's okay to take while ttc'ing.

if you are sick - it could push ovulation to be later..

what makes you think you should've ovulated by now? (not saying you are wrong, just trying to get an idea of how to help)..

Re: Question about antibiotics & ovulating

antibiotics will not prevent you from ovulating.

in fact, when on BCP, if you are taking antibioitcs, they tell you you can get pg b/c it antibiotics can decrease the effectiveness of the BCP. (i had a friend get pg).

My guess is that you'll get a +OPK tonight.

Are you making sure you hold your urine for at least 3 hours before and testing between 2 and 8 pm?

yeah about that - holding it for 3 hrs? On the test it says hold it in your urine for 5 seconds. I just read on that post that you created (very informative BTW - thanks :) that you're supposed to hold it for 3-4 hrs? Whattttt? Why so long?
I didnt do it for 3 hrs - but I did do it between 2 & 8pm though.

Sorry if that was confusing! I meant holding your urine - as in not peeing - for 3-4 hours before you test. So pee at 12:00 and then not again until you use your OPK at 4:00 pm. Does that make sense?

yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha you know what I thought you meant.... to pee in a cup and leave the test in for 4 hrs. I was thinking - that does not make sense...
